Hadith #124
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ اسْتَأْذَنَتْ رَبَّهَا فَنَفَّسَهَا فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَشِدَّةُ الْحَرِّ مِنْ حَرِّ جَهَنَّمَ وَشِدَّةُ الْبَرْدِ مِنْ زَمْهَرِيرِهَا
English Translation
Yunus narrated to us, he said Aban, meaning al-Attar, narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The most virtuous prayer after the obligatory prayers is the prayer in the middle of the night. And the most virtuous fasting after the month of Ramadan is the month of Allah, Muharram.'
