English Translation

Ahmad ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When the call to prayer is given, the Shaytan turns away fleeing and passing wind loudly so that he does not hear the adhan. When the adhan is finished, he comes back. When the iqamah is given, he turns away again. When the iqamah is finished, he comes back and whispers to the person, saying: "Remember such-and-such, remember such-and-such" — things he had not been thinking about — until the man does not know how much he has prayed.'
