حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا أَبَقَ الْعَبْدُ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً إِذَا سَرَقَ فَبِعْهُ وَلَوْ بِنَشٍّ وَالنَّشُّ نِصْفُ الْأُوقِيَّةِ

English Translation

Affan narrated to us, Abu Awanah narrated to us, from Umar ibn Abi Salamah, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'People are like mines of gold and silver. The best of them in Jahiliyyah are the best of them in Islam, if they gain understanding.'
