Hadith #337
Arabic Text
وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ قَالَ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي قَرَابَةً أَصِلُهُمْ وَيَقْطَعُونِي وَأَحْلُمُ عَنْهُمْ فَيَجْهَلُونَ عَلَيَّ وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُسِيئُونَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنْ كَانَ كَمَا تَقُولُ لَكَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمْ الْمَلَّ وَلَا يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنْ اللَّهِ ظَهِيرٌ عَلَيْهِمْ مَادُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ
English Translation
With the same chain of narration, he said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have relatives whom I maintain ties with, but they cut me off. I treat them with forbearance, but they treat me with ignorance. I do good to them, but they do evil to me.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If it is as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes. You will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them as long as you remain upon that.'
