حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَم

َةَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ صُومُوا الْهِلَالَ لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَعُدُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ

English Translation
'Affan narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ziyad informed us, who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) saying: I heard Abu al-Qasim ﷺ say: 'Begin fasting upon sighting the crescent moon and break your fast upon sighting it. If it is obscured from you, then complete the count of thirty days.'
