حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُح
َمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الطَّوَّافَ عَلَيْكُمْ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, who said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The truly poor person is not the one who goes around begging from people, whom a morsel or two would satisfy. Rather, the truly poor person is the one who abstains from asking despite his need.'
