حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ جَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ طَلَّقَهَا زَوْجُهَا فَأَر
َادَتْ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ وَلَدَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَهِمَا فِيهِ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ مَنْ يَحُولُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ ابْنِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلِابْنِ اخْتَرْ أَيَّهُمَا شِئْتَ فَاخْتَارَ أُمَّهُ فَذَهَبَتْ بِهِ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, who said: 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Maymunah, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه): A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ after her husband had divorced her, wanting to take her child. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Draw lots for him.' The man said: 'Who will come between me and my son?' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the son: 'Choose whichever of them you wish.' He chose his mother, and she took him.
