English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, who said: Usamah ibn Zayd narrated to us from 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid — the mawla of al-Aswad ibn Sufyan — from Ibn Thawban, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet ﷺ went out for prayer, and when he said the takbir, he turned back and gestured to them (to stay as they were). Then he went out, took a bath, came back with his head dripping, and led them in prayer. When he finished, he said: 'I was in a state of janabah (major impurity) and forgot to bathe.'
