Hadith #234

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّه
ِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا طِيَرَةَ وَخَيْرُهَا الْفَأْلُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْفَأْلُ قَالَ كَلِمَةٌ صَالِحَةٌ يَسْمَعُهَا أَحَدُكُمْ

English Translation
Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Layth narrated to us, he said: 'Uqayl narrated to me, from Ibn Shihab, from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Utbah, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: "There is no superstitious omen, and the best of it is the good omen (al-fa'l)." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is al-fa'l?" He said: "A good word that one of you hears."
