حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ
عَنْ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَرْبَعٌ فِي أُمَّتِي مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَنْ يَدَعُوهُنَّ التَّطَاعُنُ فِي الْأَنْسَابِ وَالنِّيَاحَةُ وَمُطِرْنَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَالْعَدْوَى الرَّجُلُ يَشْتَرِي الْبَعِيرَ الْأَجْرَبَ فَيَجْعَلُهُ فِي مِائَةِ بَعِيرٍ فَتَجْرَبُ فَمَنْ أَعْدَى الْأَوَّلَ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us; and Hajjaj said: Shu'bah informed us, from 'Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Abu al-Rabi', from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Four things in my ummah are from the affairs of the pre-Islamic era (jahiliyyah) that they will not abandon: disparaging lineages, wailing over the dead, attributing rain to stars saying 'we were given rain by such-and-such star,' and contagion — a man buys a mangy camel and puts it among one hundred camels and they become mangy, but who gave the disease to the first one?"
