حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ زَمْعَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صَالِحٍ الْمَكِّيَّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ عَلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ فَكَبَّرَ أَرْبَعًا
English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from Zam'ah, meaning Ibn Salih al-Makki, from al-Zuhri, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet ﷺ once prayed with his Companions the 'Asr prayer and gave the salam after two rak'ahs. Dhu al-Yadayn said to him: 'Has the prayer been shortened, or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Neither was it shortened nor did I forget.' He said: 'Indeed you did.' So he asked the people and they confirmed it. He then prayed the remaining two rak'ahs and prostrated two prostrations of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw).
