Hadith #72
لَّهُ أَشْهَدْ لَكَ بِهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ تُعَيِّرَنِي قُرَيْشٌ لَأَقْرَرْتُ عَيْنَكَ بِهَا قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ }

English Translation
Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us from Yazid, from Abu Hazim, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his uncle: 'Say: There is no god but Allah, and I will testify for you with it before Allah on the Day of Resurrection.' He said: 'Were it not that Quraysh would reproach me, I would have delighted your eyes with it.' So Allah (عز وجل) revealed: {Indeed, you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the rightly guided} [28:56].'
