Hadith #108

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَرَوْحٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ خِلَاسٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِ
عٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ صَلَّى مِنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ رَكْعَةً قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ طَلَعَتْ فَلْيُصَلِّ إِلَيْهَا أُخْرَى

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Rawh narrated to us, they said: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Khilas, from Abu Rafi', from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you prays and does not know whether he prayed three or four [rak'ahs], let him stand and pray a rak'ah, then perform two prostrations while sitting. If the rak'ah he prayed was his fifth, the two prostrations will make it even [an additional pair]. And if it was completing his four, the two prostrations will be a humiliation for Shaytan.'
