حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَسْمَعُ ال

ْحِكْمَةَ ثُمَّ لَا يُخْبِرُ عَنْ صَاحِبِهِ إِلَّا بِشَرِّ مَا سَمِعَ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ أَتَى رَاعِيَ غَنَمٍ فَقَالَ أَجْزِرْنِي شَاةً مِنْ غَنَمِكَ فَقَالَ اخْتَرْ فَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِ كَلْبِ الْغَنَمِ

English Translation

Yazid narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Aws ibn Khalid, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'The parable of the one who hears the call (to prayer) and does not come is like the parable of a man who comes to a table that has been set, eats from it, and then leaves.'
