حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ النَّاسُ أَكْثَرَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَلَقِيتُ رَجُلًا فَقُلْتُ بِأَيِّ سُورَةٍ ق
َرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبَارِحَةَ فِي الْعَتَمَةِ فَقَالَ لَا أَدْرِي فَقُلْتُ أَلَمْ تَشْهَدْهَا قَالَ بَلَى قُلْتُ وَلَكِنِّي أَدْرِي قَرَأَ سُورَةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا

English Translation
Uthman narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b informed us, from Sa'id al-Maqburi, who said: Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) said: 'People say: Abu Hurayrah narrates too much! I met a man and asked him: What surah did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite last night? He said: I do not know. I said: You did not attend? He said: Yes. I said: But I know. He (ﷺ) recited such-and-such surah.'
