حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي قَرَابَةً أَ
صِلُهُمْ وَيَقْطَعُونِي وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُسِيئُونَ إِلَيَّ وَيَجْهَلُونَ عَلَيَّ وَأَحْلُمُ عَنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَئِنْ كَانَ كَمَا تَقُولُ لَكَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمْ الْمَلَّ وَلَا يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنْ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ظَهِيرٌ مَادُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ

English Translation
'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Zuhayr, from al-'Ala', from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), who said: A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have relatives whom I maintain ties with but they cut me off, I treat them well but they treat me badly, I am forbearing with them but they are harsh with me.' He said: 'If it is as you say, it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes. And a supporter from Allah will remain with you against them as long as you continue doing so.'
