English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn Ukaymah al-Junda'i, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once prayed a prayer in which there is a recitation [aloud]. When he finished, he said: 'Did any of you recite along with me just now?' A man said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'I was saying to myself, why am I being contended with regarding the Quran?' So the people stopped reciting along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the prayers in which he recited aloud, after they heard that from him.
