حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ الْمُؤَلَّفَةُ قُلُوبُهُمْ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَر
ْبَعَةً عَلْقَمَةَ بْنَ عُلَاثَةَ الْجَعْفَرِيَّ وَالْأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ الْحَنْظَلِيَّ وَزَيْدَ الْخَيْلِ الطَّائِيَّ وَعُيَيْنَةَ بْنَ بَدْرٍ الْفَزَارِيَّ قَالَ فَقَدِمَ عَلِيٌّ بِذَهَبَةٍ مِنْ الْيَمَنِ بِتُرْبَتِهَا فَقَسَمَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَهُمْ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Masruq, from Ibn Abi Nu'm, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: 'The mu'allafatu qulubuhum (those whose hearts were being reconciled) during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were five: 'Uyaynah ibn Badr, al-Aqra' ibn Habis, 'Abbas ibn Mirdas, and two others.' 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) sent the Prophet ﷺ a gold nugget, and the Prophet ﷺ divided it among these four men. A man from the people said: 'We were more deserving of this than them.' That reached the Prophet ﷺ and he said: 'Do you not trust me, when I am the trusted one of the One in the heaven?'
