Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, whose full name was Sa'd ibn Malik ibn Sinan al-Khazraji al-Ansari, was one of the most prolific narrators of hadith among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, transmitting over a thousand narrations that are preserved in all major collections. He was from the Ansar of Medina and participated in twelve military campaigns alongside the Prophet ﷺ. He was known for his deep knowledge of religion, his scholarly precision, and his fearlessness in stating the truth — including in front of rulers. He was a leading jurist and hadith scholar of Medina and was frequently consulted by the Tabi'in who came to him with religious questions after the Prophet's ﷺ passing. His narrations cover theology, eschatology, prayer, fasting, marriage, commercial transactions, and nearly every domain of Islamic practice. He is particularly known for transmitting the famous hadiths about the Day of Judgment, the intercession of the Prophet ﷺ, and the nature of Paradise and Hell. He spent his final years in Medina transmitting knowledge to students from across the Islamic world. He passed away around 74 AH.
