Hadith #442
Arabic Text
قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي صَعْصَعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ يُرَدِّدُهَا مِنْ السَّحَرِ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ وَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَتَقَالُّهَا فَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

English Translation
He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i read before 'Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'sa'ah, from his father, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), that a man heard another man reciting {Say: He is Allah, the One} [al-Ikhlas], repeating it. So in the morning he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that to him, as though the man belittled it. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.'
