English Translation

Abu 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Haywah narrated to us, Salim ibn Ghaylan informed us that al-Walid ibn Qays al-Tujibi informed him that he heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) — or from Abu al-Haytham, from Abu Sa'id — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The martyrs on the Day of Resurrection will go to the Gate of Paradise and find it locked. They will say: We fought in the cause of Allah until we were killed. Then they will be told: Wait, your reckoning has not been settled. They will say: With what are we to be reckoned? Our souls were taken from our bodies! A caller will then call out to them: You have spoken the truth. So the gates of Paradise will be opened for them, and they will enter it forty years before the rest of the people.'
