English Translation
Hajjaj narrated to us, Shu'bah informed us, from Abu al-Tayyah, from Abu al-Waddak who said: I will never drink nabidh again after what I heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) say. He said: A man was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who had drunk. He struck him with two palm branches around forty times. Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) did the same, and when 'Umar (رضي الله عنه) became caliph, he consulted the people. 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf said: The lightest of the prescribed punishments. So 'Umar ordered eighty lashes.
