English Translation
Abu Ibrahim al-Mu'aqqib, Isma'il ibn Muhammad — and he was one of the righteous — narrated to us, Yusuf ibn al-Majishun narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir informed me, he said: I entered upon Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) and he was praying in a single garment, wrapped around himself. His cloak was nearby. When he finished, I said: 'O Abu 'Abdullah, you pray in a single garment while your cloak is right there?' He said: 'I only did that so a foolish person like you would see me doing it. Which of us had two garments during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) also confirmed this narration.
