‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ‏ ‏وَحَجَّاجٌ ‏ ‏قَالَا أَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏حُبِسْنَا يَوْمَ ‏ ‏الْخَنْدَقِ ‏ ‏عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى كَانَ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ ‏ ‏بِهَوِيٍّ ‏ ‏مِنْ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى كُفِينَا وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ‏ { ‏وَكَفَى اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْقِتَالَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزًا ‏} ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِلَالًا ‏ ‏فَأَقَامَ صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ فَصَلَّاهَا وَأَحْسَنَ صَلَاتَهَا كَمَا كَانَ يُصَلِّيهَا فِي وَقْتِهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْعَصْرَ فَصَلَّاهَا وَأَحْسَنَ صَلَاتَهَا كَمَا كَانَ يُصَلِّيهَا فِي وَقْتِهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ الْمَغْرِبَ فَصَلَّاهَا كَذَلِكَ قَالَ وَذَلِكُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُنْزِلَ اللَّهُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ ‏ { ‏فَرِجَالًا أَوْ رُكْبَانًا ‏}

'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated to us — and Hajjaj said: Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated to us — from Sa'id al-Maqburi, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'id al-Khudri, from his father, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: 'The ghusl on Friday is obligatory upon every male who has reached puberty, and (using) the siwak, and applying whatever perfume of his family he can find.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُتَوَكِّلِ النَّاجِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ أَمَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏غَيْرُ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏غَيْرُ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏الذَّهَبُ بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةُ ‏ ‏بِالْفِضَّةِ ‏ ‏وَالْبُرُّ ‏ ‏بِالْبُرِّ ‏ ‏وَالشَّعِيرُ بِالشَّعِيرِ وَالتَّمْرُ بِالتَّمْرِ وَالْمِلْحُ بِالْمِلْحِ سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ مَنْ زَادَ أَوْ ازْدَادَ فَقَدْ ‏ ‏أَرْبَى ‏ ‏الْآخِذُ وَالْمُعْطِي فِيهِ سَوَاءٌ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Sulayman ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Abu al-Mutawakkil al-Naji narrated to us, Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) narrated to us, from the Prophet ﷺ. A man from the people asked him about coitus interruptus ('azl). He said: 'Not from every fluid does offspring come. When Allah wills to create something, nothing can prevent it.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ أَهْلَ ‏ ‏عِلِّيِّينَ ‏ ‏لَيَرَاهُمْ مَنْ هُوَ أَسْفَلَ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا يُرَى الْكَوْكَبُ فِي أُفُقِ السَّمَاءِ وَإِنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏وَعُمَرَ ‏ ‏لَمِنْهُمْ وَأَنْعَمَا ‏

Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, Isma'il — meaning Ibn Abi Khalid — narrated to us, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed the people of the highest levels (in Paradise) will be seen by those beneath them as you see a brilliant star on the horizon of the sky. Abu Bakr and 'Umar are among them, and how excellent they are!'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شَيْبَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عِيَاضُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَنَسِيَ كَمْ صَلَّى ‏ ‏أَوْ قَالَ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ زَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ ‏ ‏فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ وَإِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَكُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ إِنَّكَ قَدْ ‏ ‏أَحْدَثْتَ ‏ ‏فَلْيَقُلْ كَذَبْتَ إِلَّا مَا سَمِعَهُ بِأُذُنِهِ أَوْ وَجَدَ رِيحَهُ بِأَنْفِهِ ‏

Hasan ibn Musa narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Yahya, 'Iyad ibn Hilal al-Ansari narrated to me who said: I heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) saying: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not write anything from me except the Quran. Whoever has written anything from me other than the Quran, let him erase it.' He said: 'And narrate from me, and there is no harm. But whoever deliberately lies upon me, let him take his seat in the Fire.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏سَعِيدٌ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا ‏ ‏اسْتَجَدَّ ‏ ‏ثَوْبًا سَمَّاهُ بِاسْمِهِ عِمَامَةً أَوْ قَمِيصًا أَوْ رِدَاءً ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ‏ ‏اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِيهِ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهُ وَخَيْرَ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ ‏

'Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak informed us, Sa'id al-Jurayri informed us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go out to the place of sacrifice and lead the prayer. Then when he had delivered his sermon and commanded the people, he would head to his house. The people continued to follow this practice until the day Marwan ibn al-Hakam became governor. I went out to meet Marwan. When he came out to the prayer ground, he headed straight for the minbar before the prayer. I pulled on his garment, but he pushed me away and ascended the minbar. He delivered the khutbah before the prayer. I said: You have changed it, by Allah! He said: O Abu Sa'id, what you knew has gone. I said: What I know, by Allah, is better than what I do not know. He said: The people would not sit for us after the prayer, so I made it before the prayer.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏لَيْثٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْهَادِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏ذُكِرَ عِنْدَهُ عَمُّهُ ‏ ‏أَبُو طَالِبٍ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏لَعَلَّهُ تَنْفَعُهُ ‏ ‏شَفَاعَتِي ‏ ‏يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُجْعَلَ فِي ‏ ‏ضَحْضَاحٍ ‏ ‏مِنْ النَّارِ يَبْلُغُ كَعْبَيْهِ يَغْلِي مِنْهُ دِمَاغُهُ ‏

Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, from Ibn al-Had, from 'Abdullah ibn Khabbab, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), that 'Azl (coitus interruptus) was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: 'Why would any of you do that? — he did not say: let him not do it — for indeed there is no soul that is destined to be created except that it will be created.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏سَعِيدُ بْنُ إِيَاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنَّا نُسَافِرُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي رَمَضَانَ ‏ ‏فَمِنَّا الصَّائِمُ وَمِنَّا الْمُفْطِرُ فَلَا يَعِيبُ الصَّائِمُ عَلَى الْمُفْطِرِ وَلَا الْمُفْطِرُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ ‏

'Ali ibn 'Asim narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Iyas informed us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) who said: We used to travel with the Prophet ﷺ in Ramadan. Some of us fasted and some did not. Neither did the one who fasted blame the one who did not fast, nor did the one who did not fast blame the one who fasted. They saw that whoever had strength and fasted, that was good. And they saw that whoever found weakness and broke his fast, that was also good.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ‏ ‏بِالْكُوفَةِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ قَنَّةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بَعْثًا فَكُنْتُ فِيهِمْ فَأَتَيْنَا عَلَى قَرْيَةٍ فَاسْتَطْعَمْنَا أَهْلَهَا فَأَبَوْا أَنْ يُطْعِمُونَا شَيْئًا فَجَاءَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقَرْيَةِ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ ‏ ‏الْعَرَبِ ‏ ‏فِيكُمْ رَجُلٌ ‏ ‏يَرْقِي ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قُلْتُ وَمَا ذَاكَ قَالَ مَلِكُ الْقَرْيَةِ يَمُوتُ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقْنَا مَعَهُ ‏ ‏فَرَقَيْتُهُ ‏ ‏بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ‏ ‏فَرَدَّدْتُهَا عَلَيْهِ مِرَارًا فَعُوفِيَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا بِطَعَامٍ وَبِغَنَمٍ تُسَاقُ فَقَالَ أَصْحَابِي لَمْ يَعْهَدْ إِلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي هَذَا بِشَيْءٍ لَا نَأْخُذُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا حَتَّى نَأْتِيَ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَسُقْنَا الْغَنَمَ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَحَدَّثْنَاهُ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏كُلْ وَأَطْعِمْنَا مَعَكَ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ أَنَّهَا ‏ ‏رُقْيَةٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ قُلْتُ أُلْقِيَ فِي ‏ ‏رَوْعِي ‏

Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr Abu Ahmad narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Nu'man Abu al-Nu'man al-Ansari narrated to us in Kufah, from Sulayman ibn Qinnah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Love the Ansar, for indeed they are my shield and my protectors. They have fulfilled what was upon them, and there remains what is for them. So accept from their good-doers and overlook their wrongdoers.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَتْشٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏جَعْفَرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ النَّاجِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا قَامَ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ وَاسْتَفْتَحَ صَلَاتَهُ وَكَبَّرَ قَالَ ‏ ‏سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ تَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى ‏ ‏جَدُّكَ ‏ ‏وَلَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ يَقُولُ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ مِنْ ‏ ‏هَمْزِهِ ‏ ‏وَنَفْخِهِ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ يَقُولُ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ مِنْ ‏ ‏هَمْزِهِ ‏ ‏وَنَفْخِهِ ‏ ‏وَنَفْثِهِ ‏

Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Atash narrated to us, Ja'far — meaning ibn Sulayman — narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn 'Ali al-Yashkuri, from Abu al-Mutawakkil al-Naji, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform i'tikaf in the middle ten days of Ramadan. One year he performed i'tikaf, and when the twenty-first night came — which was the night after the morning of which he would leave his i'tikaf — he said: 'Whoever was doing i'tikaf with me, let him do i'tikaf in the last ten days. I was shown this night, then made to forget it. I saw myself prostrating in water and mud on its morning. So seek it in the last ten days, and seek it in every odd night.' Then it rained that night, and the mosque leaked at the place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed. I looked at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the morning of the twenty-first, and his face was covered with mud and water.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏جَعْفَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْمُعَلَّى الْقُرْدُوسِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏الْحَسَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَلَا لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ رَهْبَةُ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُولَ بِحَقٍّ إِذَا رَآهُ ‏ ‏أَوْ شَهِدَهُ ‏ ‏فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُقَرِّبُ مِنْ أَجَلٍ وَلَا يُبَاعِدُ مِنْ رِزْقٍ أَنْ يَقُولَ بِحَقٍّ أَوْ يُذَكِّرَ بِعَظِيمٍ ‏

Muhammad ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Mu'alla al-Qurdusi, from al-Hasan, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed, let not the fear of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he sees it or witnesses it or hears it.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هِشَامٌ ‏ ‏وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏هِشَامٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنَّا نُرْزَقُ تَمْرَ ‏ ‏الْجَمْعِ ‏ ‏وَقَالَ ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ ‏ ‏تَمْرٌ مِنْ تَمْرِ ‏ ‏الْجَمْعِ ‏ ‏عَلَى ‏ ‏عَهْدِ ‏ ‏رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَنَبِيعُ ‏ ‏الصَّاعَيْنِ ‏ ‏بِالصَّاعِ ‏ ‏فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏لَا ‏ ‏صَاعَيْ ‏ ‏تَمْرٍ ‏ ‏بِصَاعٍ ‏ ‏وَلَا ‏ ‏صَاعَيْ ‏ ‏حِنْطَةٍ ‏ ‏بِصَاعٍ ‏ ‏وَلَا دِرْهَمَيْنِ بِدِرْهَمٍ ‏

'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us — and Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Hisham informed us — from Yahya, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: We used to be given mixed dates (tamr al-jam'), which was a mixture of dates. We would sell two sa's of it for one sa'. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'No two sa's for one sa', and no two dirhams for one dirham.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هِشَامٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الْجَنَازَةَ فَقُومُوا فَمَنْ تَبِعَهَا فَلَا يَقْعُدْ حَتَّى تُوضَعَ ‏

'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from Yahya, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When you see a funeral procession, stand up. Whoever follows it, let him not sit down until it is placed on the ground.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏هِشَامٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو رِفَاعَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي ‏ ‏وَلِيدَةً ‏ ‏وَأَنَا ‏ ‏أَعْزِلُ ‏ ‏عَنْهَا وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ مَا يُرِيدُ الرَّجُلُ وَأَكْرَهُ أَنْ تَحْمِلَ وَإِنَّ ‏ ‏الْيَهُودَ ‏ ‏تَزْعُمُ أَنَّ ‏ ‏الْمَوْءُودَةَ ‏ ‏الصُّغْرَى ‏ ‏الْعَزْلُ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ كَذَبَتْ ‏ ‏يَهُودُ ‏ ‏إِنَّ اللَّهَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَهُ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَصْرِفَهُ ‏

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Hisham informed us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman who said: Abu Rifa'ah narrated to me that Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a man who fasts while traveling? He said: 'That is not righteousness. Rather fast and break your fast (alternate), and if you break your fast, that is a concession from Allah.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏هِشَامٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عِيَاضٌ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّى فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَكُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ إِنَّكَ قَدْ ‏ ‏أَحْدَثْتَ ‏ ‏فِي صَلَاتِكَ فَلْيَقُلْ كَذَبْتَ إِلَّا مَا وَجَدَ رِيحًا بِأَنْفِهِ أَوْ سَمِعَ صَوْتًا بِأُذُنِهِ ‏

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Hisham informed us, from Yahya, 'Iyad narrated to us that he asked Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), and he said: One of us prays and does not know how many rak'ahs he has prayed. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you prays and does not know whether he has prayed three or four, let him pray another rak'ah and then prostrate two prostrations while sitting before the taslim. If it happens that he prayed five, they will make it even for him. And if he completed his prayer properly, they will be a humiliation for Shaytan.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الرَّبْعِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْجَوْزَاءِ ‏ ‏غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَأَلْتُ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏الصَّرْفِ ‏ ‏يَدًا بِيَدٍ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏لَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ اثْنَيْنِ بِوَاحِدٍ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَقَلُّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ثُمَّ حَجَجْتُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَالشَّيْخُ حَيٌّ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ‏ ‏الصَّرْفِ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏وَزْنًا بِوَزْنٍ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّكَ قَدْ أَفْتَيْتَنِي اثْنَيْنِ بِوَاحِدٍ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُفْتِي بِهِ مُنْذُ أَفْتَيْتَنِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ كَانَ عَنْ رَأْيِي وَهَذَا ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَتَرَكْتُ رَأْيِي إِلَى حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Sulayman ibn 'Ali al-Rab'i informed us, Abu al-Jawza' narrated to us more than once, he said: I asked Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) about currency exchange, hand to hand. He said: There is no harm in it, two for one. I continued giving that fatwa for a while. Then I met him and he had retracted, saying: The first opinion was wrong; Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'No exchange except like for like.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏نَافِعٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُحَدِّثُ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عُمَرَ ‏ ‏بِحَدِيثٍ عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏فِي ‏ ‏الصَّرْفِ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَقَدِمَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏فَنَزَلَ هَذِهِ الدَّارَ فَأَخَذَ ‏ ‏ابْنُ عُمَرَ ‏ ‏بِيَدِي وَيَدِ الرَّجُلِ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏فَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ مَا يُحَدِّثُنِي هَذَا عَنْكَ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏نَعَمْ بَصُرَ عَيْنِي وَسَمِعَ أُذُنِي ‏ ‏وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ إِلَى عَيْنَيْهِ وَأُذُنَيْهِ فَمَا نَسِيتُ قَوْلَهُ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ ‏ ‏مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنْ الذَّهَبِ بِالذَّهَبِ ‏ ‏وَالْوَرِقِ ‏ ‏بِالْوَرِقِ ‏ ‏إِلَّا سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ أَلَا لَا تَبِيعُوا ‏ ‏غَائِبًا ‏ ‏بِنَاجِزٍ ‏ ‏وَلَا ‏ ‏تُشِفُّوا ‏ ‏أَحَدَهُمَا عَلَى الْآخَرِ ‏

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Ibn 'Awn informed us, from Nafi' who said: A man was narrating to Ibn 'Umar a hadith from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) about currency exchange. When Abu Sa'id arrived, Ibn 'Umar went to him along with the narrator. He said: This man narrated to me that you reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about currency exchange. What did you hear? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Gold for gold, like for like, and silver for silver, like for like.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏سَعِيدٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏و حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَفَّانُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَمَّامٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ ثَلَاثَةٌ فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ وَأَحَقُّهُمْ بِالْإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ ‏

Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, Sa'id informed us, from Qatadah — his father said: and 'Affan narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us — from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When there are three people, let one of them lead them. The one most deserving of leading them is the one who recites the most Quran.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زُهَيْرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏رُبَيْحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُمْ ‏ ‏خَرَجُوا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي سَفَرٍ فَنَزَلُوا رُفَقَاءَ رُفْقَةٌ مَعَ فُلَانٍ وَرُفْقَةٌ مَعَ فُلَانٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏فَنَزَلْتُ فِي رُفْقَةِ ‏ ‏أَبِي بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏فَكَانَ مَعَنَا أَعْرَابِيٌّ مِنْ أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْبَادِيَةِ ‏ ‏فَنَزَلْنَا بِأَهْلِ بَيْتٍ مِنْ ‏ ‏الْأَعْرَابِ ‏ ‏وَفِيهِمْ امْرَأَةٌ حَامِلٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا الْأَعْرَابِيُّ أَيَسُرُّكِ أَنْ تَلِدِي غُلَامًا إِنْ أَعْطَيْتِنِي شَاةً وَلَدْتِ غُلَامًا فَأَعْطَتْهُ شَاةً ‏ ‏وَسَجَعَ ‏ ‏لَهَا ‏ ‏أَسَاجِيعَ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَذَبَحَ الشَّاةَ فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ الْقَوْمُ يَأْكُلُونَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ أَتَدْرُونَ مَا هَذِهِ الشَّاةُ فَأَخْبَرَهُمْ قَالَ فَرَأَيْتُ ‏ ‏أَبَا بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏مُتَبَرِّيًا ‏ ‏مُسْتَنْبِلًا ‏ ‏مُتَقَيِّئًا ‏

Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Rubayh, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), that they went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. They stopped and a slave girl came to them and said: The chief of the village has been stung, and our men are absent. Is there anyone among you who can perform ruqyah? A man went with her whom we did not consider to be a practitioner of ruqyah. He recited over him and the man was cured. He was given thirty sheep, and we were given milk to drink. When he returned, we said: Were you a practitioner of ruqyah, or did you used to do ruqyah? He said: No, I only recited Umm al-Kitab (al-Fatihah). We said: Do not do anything until we ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we reached Madinah, we mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'How did he know it was a ruqyah? Divide the sheep among yourselves and assign me a share.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زُهَيْرٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏قَزَعَةُ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَأَعْجَبَنِي فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ وَكَانَ فِي نَفْسِي حَتَّى أَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَغَضِبَ غَضَبًا شَدِيدًا قَالَ فَأُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَا لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ نَعَمْ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏لَا تُشَدُّ الرِّحَالُ إِلَّا إِلَى ثَلَاثَةِ مَسَاجِدَ ‏ ‏مَسْجِدِي ‏ ‏هَذَا ‏ ‏وَالْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ ‏ ‏وَالْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى ‏

Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr narrated to us, Qaza'ah narrated to me, that he heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: 'No journey should be undertaken except to three mosques: al-Masjid al-Haram, al-Masjid al-Aqsa, and this mosque of mine.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْمِعْوَلِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ الْمُزَنِىِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أُبَشِّرُكُمْ ‏ ‏بِالْمَهْدِىِّ ‏ ‏يُبْعَثُ فِي أُمَّتِي عَلَى اخْتِلَافٍ مِنْ النَّاسِ وَزَلَازِلَ فَيَمْلَأُ الْأَرْضَ قِسْطًا وَعَدْلًا كَمَا مُلِئَتْ ‏ ‏جَوْرًا ‏ ‏وَظُلْمًا ‏ ‏وَيَرْضَى عَنْهُ سَاكِنُ السَّمَاءِ وَسَاكِنُ الْأَرْضِ وَيَمْلَأُ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَ أُمَّةِ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏غِنًى فَلَا يَحْتَاجُ أَحَدٌ إِلَى أَحَدٍ فَيُنَادِي مُنَادٍ مَنْ لَهُ فِي الْمَالِ حَاجَةٌ قَالَ فَيَقُومُ رَجُلٌ فَيَقُولُ أَنَا فَيُقَالُ لَهُ ائْتِ ‏ ‏السَّادِنَ ‏ ‏يَعْنِي الْخَازِنَ ‏ ‏فَقُلْ لَهُ قَالَ لَكَ ‏ ‏الْمَهْدِيُّ ‏ ‏أَعْطِنِي قَالَ فَيَأْتِي ‏ ‏السَّادِنَ ‏ ‏فَيَقُولُ لَهُ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ ‏ ‏احْتَثِي ‏ ‏فَيَحْتَثِي ‏ ‏فَإِذَا ‏ ‏أَحْرَزَهُ ‏ ‏قَالَ كُنْتُ أَجْشَعَ أُمَّةِ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏نَفْسًا ‏ ‏أَوَعَجَزَ ‏ ‏عَنِّي مَا ‏ ‏وَسِعَهُمْ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَيَمْكُثُ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ أَوْ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ أَوْ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ ثُمَّ لَا خَيْرَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ ‏ ‏أَوْ فِي الْعَيْشِ ‏ ‏بَعْدَهُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ زِيَادٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ ‏ ‏وَكَانَ بَكَّاءً عِنْدَ الذِّكْرِ شُجَاعًا عِنْدَ اللِّقَاءِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏مِثْلَهُ وَزَادَ فِيهِ فَيَنْدَمُ فَيَأْتِي بِهِ ‏ ‏السَّادِنَ ‏ ‏فَيَقُولُ لَهُ لَا نَقْبَلُ شَيْئًا أَعْطَيْنَاهُ ‏

Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to me, al-Mu'alla ibn Ziyad al-Mi'wali narrated to us, from al-'Ala' ibn Bashir al-Muzani, from Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: 'The earth will be like a single loaf of bread on the Day of Resurrection, which the Almighty will turn with His Hand as one of you turns his loaf on a journey, as hospitality for the people of Paradise.' A Jewish man came and said: May the Most Merciful bless you, O Abu al-Qasim! Shall I not tell you of the hospitality of the people of Paradise? He said: 'Certainly.' He said: The earth will be a single loaf of bread. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at us and then laughed until his molar teeth showed. He said: 'Shall I not tell you of their condiment?' He said: Their condiment will be balaam and noon. They said: What is that? He said: A bull and a fish. Seventy thousand people will eat from the lobes of their livers.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ‏ ‏مَوْلَى ‏ ‏بَنِي عَنْزٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَنْ يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا بِرَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَا أَنْتَ قَالَ وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ ‏ ‏يَتَغَمَّدَنِيَ ‏ ‏اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَتِهِ وَقَالَ بِيَدِهِ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ ‏

Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Fudayl ibn Marzuq, the freed slave of Banu 'Anz, narrated to me, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed among the inhabitants of Paradise are those whom the people of the upper levels will see as you see the brilliant star on the eastern or western horizon, due to the difference in rank between them.' They said: O Messenger of Allah, are those the dwellings of the Prophet ﷺs that no one else can reach? He said: 'Certainly not. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, they are men who believed in Allah and believed the Messengers.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِزْرَةُ ‏ ‏الْمُسْلِمِ إِلَى نِصْفِ السَّاقِ فَمَا كَانَ إِلَى الْكَعْبِ فَلَا بَأْسَ وَمَا تَحْتَ الْكَعْبِ فَفِي النَّارِ ‏

Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, Muhammad — meaning Ibn Ishaq — narrated to us, from al-'Ala' ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The lower garment of the believer reaches to mid-calf. There is no sin in what is between that and the ankles. Whatever is below the ankles is in the Fire.' He said it three times. 'And Allah does not look at the one who drags his lower garment out of pride.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَجِيحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قُلْتُ ‏ ‏لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏إِنَّ مِنَّا رِجَالًا هُمْ أَقْرَؤُنَا لِلْقُرْآنِ وَأَكْثَرُنَا صَلَاةً ‏ ‏وَأَوْصَلُنَا لِلرَّحِمِ وَأَكْثَرُنَا صَوْمًا خَرَجُوا عَلَيْنَا بِأَسْيَافِهِمْ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏يَخْرُجُ قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا ‏ ‏يُجَاوِزُ ‏ ‏حَنَاجِرَهُمْ ‏ ‏يَمْرُقُونَ ‏ ‏مِنْ الدِّينِ كَمَا ‏ ‏يَمْرُقُ ‏ ‏السَّهْمُ مِنْ ‏ ‏الرَّمِيَّةِ ‏

Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, Suwayd ibn Najih narrated to us, from Yazid al-Faqir who said: I said to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه): There are men among us who are the best of us in reciting the Quran, the most frequent in prayer, the most in maintaining ties of kinship, and the most in fasting, yet they see that the sword is the truth. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There will emerge a people who recite the Quran but it does not go beyond their throats. They will pass through the religion as an arrow passes through game. They will kill the people of Islam and leave the idol worshippers. If I were to reach them, I would kill them as the people of 'Ad were killed.'

Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was praying on a reed mat and prostrating on it.

Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Salih, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Delay the Dhuhr prayer when it is extremely hot, for indeed the intensity of heat is from the emanation of Hellfire.'

Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The wealthy are ruined.' They said: Except who, O Messenger of Allah? He said: 'Except the one who says: Like this, and like this, and like this' — from his right and his left and in front of him and behind him — 'and they are few.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَشُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَخْرَجَ الْمِنْبَرَ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ ‏ ‏مَرْوَانُ ‏ ‏وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ بَدَأَ بِالْخُطْبَةِ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا ‏ ‏مَرْوَانُ ‏ ‏خَالَفْتَ السُّنَّةَ أَخْرَجْتَ الْمِنْبَرَ وَلَمْ يَكُ يُخْرَجُ وَبَدَأْتَ بِالْخُطْبَةِ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏مَنْ هَذَا قَالُوا فُلَانُ بْنُ فُلَانٍ قَالَ أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ قَضَى مَا عَلَيْهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏مَنْ رَأَى مُنْكَرًا فَإِنْ ‏ ‏اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ يُغَيِّرَهُ بِيَدِهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِلِسَانِهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِقَلْبِهِ وَذَلِكَ أَضْعَفُ الْإِيمَانِ ‏

Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Raja', from his father who said: The first to bring out the minbar on the day of Eid was Marwan, and the first to begin with the khutbah before the prayer was Marwan. A man stood up to him and said: You have opposed the Sunnah! He said: O so-and-so, what was done has been abandoned. Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) said: As for this man, he has fulfilled his duty. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand. If he is unable to, then with his tongue. If he is unable to, then with his heart, and that is the weakest of faith.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏نَافِعٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏بَلَغَ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عُمَرَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ‏ ‏يَأْثُرُ حَدِيثًا عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي ‏ ‏الصَّرْفِ ‏ ‏فَأَخَذَ يَدِي فَذَهَبْتُ أَنَا وَهُوَ وَالرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ تَأْثُرُهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي ‏ ‏الصَّرْفِ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ سَمِعَتْهُ أُذُنَايَ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏لَا تَبِيعُوا الذَّهَبَ بِالذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ وَلَا الْفِضَّةَ بِالْفِضَّةِ إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ وَلَا تُفَضِّلُوا بَعْضَهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ وَلَا تَبِيعُوا مِنْهَا ‏ ‏غَائِبًا ‏ ‏بِنَاجِزٍ ‏

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from 'Ubaydullah, Nafi' informed me who said: It reached Ibn 'Umar that Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) was narrating a hadith from the Prophet ﷺ about currency exchange. He went to him and asked him. Abu Sa'id said: A man came with dates and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Is all the dates of Khaybar like this?' He said: No, O Messenger of Allah, we buy one sa' of this for two sa's, and two sa's for three sa's. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not do that. Sell the lower quality dates for dirhams, then buy with the dirhams the better dates.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُجَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْوَدَّاكِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَأَلْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ جَنِينِ النَّاقَةِ وَالْبَقَرَةِ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏إِنْ شِئْتُمْ فَكُلُوهُ فَإِنَّ ‏ ‏ذَكَاتَهُ ‏ ‏ذَكَاةُ ‏ ‏أُمِّهِ ‏

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Mujalid, Abu al-Waddak narrated to us, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) who said: We asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the fetus of a she-camel and a cow. He said: 'If you wish, eat it, for its slaughter is the slaughter of its mother.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَشِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ذَكْوَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا اشْتَدَّ الْحَرُّ ‏ ‏فَأَبْرِدُوا ‏ ‏بِالصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ ‏ ‏فَيْحِ ‏ ‏جَهَنَّمَ ‏

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Sufyan informed us, from al-A'mash, from Dhakwan, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Prophet ﷺ said: 'When the heat becomes intense, delay the prayer, for indeed the intensity of heat is from the emanation of Hellfire.' And Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) narrated the same.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏التَّيْمِيِّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ ‏ ‏هَيْبَةُ ‏ ‏النَّاسِ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِحَقٍّ إِذَا رَآهُ أَوْ شَهِدَهُ أَوْ سَمِعَهُ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ سَمِعْتُهُ ‏ ‏و قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ سَمِعْتُهُ ‏

Yahya narrated to us, from al-Taymi, Abu Nadrah narrated to us, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Let not the awe of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he sees it or knows it, for indeed it does not bring death closer or push provision further away.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏هِشَامٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِيَاضٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ ‏ ‏سَأَلَ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَحَدُنَا ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي لَا يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّى فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ فَإِنْ أَتَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ إِنَّكَ قَدْ ‏ ‏أَحْدَثْتَ ‏ ‏فَلْيَقُلْ كَذَبْتَ إِلَّا مَا وَجَدَ رِيحًا بِأَنْفِهِ أَوْ صَوْتًا بِأُذُنِهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبَانُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏هِلَالِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏هِلَالِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ ‏ ‏و حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏عِيَاضُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ‏

Yahya narrated to us, from Hisham, from Yahya, from 'Iyad who asked Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه). He said: One of us prays and does not know how many he has prayed. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you doubts in his prayer, let him estimate the correct count and then prostrate two prostrations.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هِشَامٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو رِفَاعَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ لِي أَمَةً وَأَنَا ‏ ‏أَعْزِلُ ‏ ‏عَنْهَا وَإِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ تَحْمِلَ وَإِنَّ ‏ ‏الْيَهُودَ ‏ ‏تَزْعُمُ أَنَّهَا ‏ ‏الْمَوْءُودَةُ ‏ ‏الصُّغْرَى قَالَ كَذَبَتْ ‏ ‏يَهُودُ ‏ ‏إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَخْلُقَهُ لَمْ تَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ تَرُدَّهُ ‏

Yahya narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban who said: Abu Rifa'ah narrated to me that Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) said: A man said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about fasting while traveling? He said: 'If you wish, fast, and if you wish, break your fast.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْحَسَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي ‏ ‏الْعَزْلِ ‏ ‏أَنْتَ تَخْلُقُهُ أَنْتَ تَرْزُقُهُ ‏ ‏أَقِرَّهُ ‏ ‏قَرَارَهُ ‏ ‏فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ الْقَدَرُ ‏

Yahya narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said regarding 'azl (coitus interruptus): 'Do you create it? Do you provide for it? Let it be, for indeed every soul that is destined to exist will exist.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏وَحَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏ثَنَا ‏ ‏مَالِكٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ النِّدَاءَ فَقُولُوا مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ ‏

Yahya narrated to us, from Malik — and 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Malik narrated to us — from al-Zuhri, from 'Ata' ibn Yazid, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'The earth has been made for me as a place of prayer and a means of purification. So wherever a man of my ummah is when the prayer time comes, he has his place of prayer and his means of purification.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُجَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الْوَدَّاكِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَا تَصُومُوا يَوْمَيْنِ وَلَا تُصَلُّوا صَلَاتَيْنِ وَلَا تَصُومُوا يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَلَا يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَلَا تُصَلُّوا بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَلَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ ‏

Yahya narrated to us, from Mujalid, Abu al-Waddak narrated to me, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Do not fast on two days, and do not pray two prayers. Do not fast on the day of al-Fitr and the day of al-Adha. And do not pray after Fajr until the sun rises, and do not pray after 'Asr until the sun sets.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏وَوَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏زَكَرِيَّا ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عَامِرٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏وَمَرْوَانُ ‏ ‏جَالِسَيْنِ فَمُرَّ عَلَيْهِمَا بِجَنَازَةٍ فَقَامَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏مَرْوَانُ ‏ ‏اجْلِسْ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَامَ فَقَامَ ‏ ‏مَرْوَانُ ‏ ‏وَقَالَ ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏مَرَّتْ بِهِ جَنَازَةٌ فَقَامَ ‏

Yahya and Waki' narrated to us, from Zakariyya, 'Amir narrated to me who said: Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) and Marwan were sitting when a funeral passed by them. Abu Sa'id stood up, and Marwan said: Sit down. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to stand up for funerals. Marwan said: Abu Hurayrah informed us that a Jewish funeral passed by the Prophet ﷺ and he stood. Abu Sa'id said: I bear witness that I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing for a funeral. Then he was told it was the funeral of a Jew. He said: 'Is it not a soul?'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏عِيَاضَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَخْرُجُ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي ‏ ‏تَيْنِكَ ‏ ‏الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ‏

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Dawud ibn Qays informed us that he heard 'Iyad ibn 'Abdullah narrating that he heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) narrating that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go out on the two Eids and give the khutbah to the people. He would come to the women and admonish them, reminding them, and command them to give charity. Often a woman would throw her ring or earring, and Bilal would collect them in his garment.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏دَاوُدَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عِيَاضٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَخْرُجُ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا قَالَ الْفِطْرِ وَالْأَضْحَى ‏ ‏فَيُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَيَقُومُ قَائِمًا فَيَسْتَقْبِلُ النَّاسَ بِوَجْهِهِ وَيَقُولُ ‏ ‏تَصَدَّقُوا فَكَانَ أَكْثَرَ مَنْ يَتَصَدَّقُ النِّسَاءُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏بِالْخَاتَمِ ‏ ‏وَالْقُرْطِ ‏ ‏وَالشَّيْءِ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ‏ ‏فَإِنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ أَوْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَضَعَ بَعْثًا تَكَلَّمَ وَإِلَّا انْصَرَفَ ‏

Yahya narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Qays who said: 'Iyad narrated to me, Abu Sa'id narrated to me who said: the Prophet ﷺ used to go out on the day of Eid — Yahya said: I do not know it except in the Fitr and Adha — to the prayer ground. The first thing he would begin with was the prayer. Then he would stand facing the people and admonish them, advise them, and command them. If he intended to dispatch an army or command something, he would do so. He said: And he continued doing this.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏وَعَفَّانُ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ‏ ‏قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَمَّامٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي عِيسَى الْأُسْوَارِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏زَجَرَ ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ الشُّرْبِ قَائِمًا ‏

Waki', 'Affan, and 'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, they said: Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, from Abu 'Isa al-Uswari, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade that a man drink while standing.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطِيَّةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ الْغُسْلِ مِنْ الْجَنَابَةِ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ إِنِّي كَثِيرُ الشَّعَرِ قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَكْثَرَ شَعَرًا مِنْكَ وَأَطْيَبَ ‏

Waki' narrated to us, Fudayl ibn Marzuq narrated to me, from 'Atiyyah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه). A man asked him about performing ghusl from janabah (major ritual impurity). He said: Three times (pouring water). The man said: I have a lot of hair. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had more hair than you, and he used to pour water on his head three times.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْأَشْهَبِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو نَضْرَةَ الْعَبْدِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي أَصْحَابِهِ تَأَخُّرًا فَقَالَ ‏ ‏تَقَدَّمُوا فَأْتَمُّوا بِي وَلْيَأْتَمَّ بِكُمْ مَنْ بَعْدَكُمْ وَلَا يَزَالُ قَوْمٌ يَتَأَخَّرُونَ حَتَّى يُؤَخِّرَهُمْ اللَّهُ ‏

Waki' narrated to us, Abu al-Ash'hab narrated to us, Abu Nadrah al-'Abdi narrated to us, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ noticed his Companions hanging back, so he said: 'Come forward and follow me, and let those behind you follow you. People will continue to hang back until Allah puts them at the back.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَمِّهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَوْلًى لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ ‏ ‏كَانَ مَعَ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏وَهُوَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَدَخَلُ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَرَأَى رَجُلًا جَالِسًا وَسَطَ الْمَسْجِدِ مُشَبِّكًا بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ يُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهُ ‏ ‏فَأَوْمَأَ ‏ ‏إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَلَمْ ‏ ‏يَفْطِنْ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَى ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يُشَبِّكَنَّ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ فَإِنَّ التَّشْبِيكَ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَا يَزَالُ فِي صَلَاةٍ مَا دَامَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ مِنْهُ ‏

Waki' narrated to us, 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mawhab narrated to us, from his uncle, from a freed slave of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that he was with Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) while he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque and saw a man sitting in the middle of the mosque clasping his knees and reciting Quran. the Prophet ﷺ looked at him but the man did not notice. Then the Prophet ﷺ turned to his Companions and said: 'Do you not see this man doing something that makes him look good?' He said it twice or three times. He said: 'Whoever among you is able — if he kills him.' A man from the people went to him and said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands you to sit down. He sat. Then when he went away, the man wished he had killed him and come to the Prophet ﷺ saying he had fulfilled the task.
