English Translation

Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Abdullah narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Yazid Abu Shuja' informed us, from Abu al-Samh, from Abu al-Haytham, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "If one of you is in doubt about his prayer and does not know whether he prayed three or four, then let him cast aside the doubt and build upon what he is certain of. Then let him perform two prostrations before giving the salam. If he had prayed five, they [the prostrations] will make his prayer even [i.e., as if he prayed six, making it like two extra rak'ahs]. And if he had prayed four completely, they will be a humiliation for the Shaytan."
