حَدَّثَنَا مَحْبُوبُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ لَهُ وَلِابْنِهِ عَلِيٍّ انْطَلِقَا إِلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ فَاسْمَعَا مِنْ حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقْنَا فَإِذَا هُوَ فِي حَائِطٍ لَهُ فَلَمَّا رَآنَا أَخَذَ رِدَاءَهُ فَجَاءَنَا فَقَعَدَ فَأَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُنَا حَتَّى أَتَى عَلَى ذِكْرِ بِنَاءِ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ كُنَّا نَحْمِلُ لَبِنَةً لَبِنَةً وَعَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسرٍ يَحْمِلُ لَبِنَتَيْنِ لَبِنَتَيْنِ قَالَ فَرَآهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى ا
للَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلَ يَنْفُضُ التُّرَابَ عَنْهُ وَيَقُولُ يَا عَمَّارُ أَلَا تَحْمِلُ لَبِنَةً كَمَا يَحْمِلُ أَصْحَابُكَ قَالَ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْأَجْرَ مِنْ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ يَنْفُضُ التُّرَابَ عَنْهُ وَيَقُولُ وَيْحَ عَمَّارٍ تَقْتُلُهُ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَيَدْعُونَهُ إِلَى النَّارِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ عَمَّارٌ يَقُولُ أَعُوذُ بِالرَّحْمَنِ مِنْ الْفِتَنِ

English Translation
Mahbub ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, from Khalid, from 'Ikrimah, that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) said to him and to his son Ali: "Go to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and listen to his hadith." So we went to him and he was in a walled garden, tending to it. He took his cloak, sat down, and began narrating to us. He narrated until he reached the mention of the building of the masjid, and he said: We were carrying one brick at a time and 'Ammar (رضي الله عنه) was carrying two bricks at a time. the Prophet ﷺ saw him and began wiping the dust from him and said: "May Allah have mercy on 'Ammar. He invites them to Paradise and they invite him to the Fire." And 'Ammar said: "I seek refuge with Allah from trials."
