English Translation
Sakan ibn Nafi' narrated to us, Salih narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, Humayd ibn Abdur-Rahman informed me that he heard Abu Hurayrah and Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنهما) saying: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw phlegm on the qiblah wall of the masjid. He took a pebble and scraped it off, then said: "When one of you stands in prayer, he is in private consultation with his Lord — or his Lord is between him and the qiblah. Let none of you spit toward his qiblah, but rather to his left or under his foot."
