حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ
قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ عَنْ الْإِزَارِ فَقَالَ عَلَى الْخَبِيرِ سَقَطْتَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِزْرَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِلَى نِصْفِ السَّاقِ وَلَا حَرَجَ أَوْ لَا جُنَاحَ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ مَا كَانَ أَسْفَلَ مِنْ الْكَعْبَيْنِ فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ بَطَرًا لَمْ يَنْظُرْ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ

English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, al-'Ala' ibn Abdur-Rahman narrated to me, who said: I heard my father narrating, he said: I asked Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) about the lower garment [izar]. He said: "You have come to the right person. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The lower garment of the believer reaches to the middle of his shins, and there is no harm in what is between it and the ankles. What is below the ankles is in the Fire.' He said this three times. And he said: 'Allah will not look at the one who drags his lower garment out of pride.'"
