Hadith #64

حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ أُتِيَ بِتَمْرٍ فَأَعْجَبَهُ جَوْدَتُهُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا أَخَذْنَا صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ لِنَطْعَمَهُ فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ وَنَهَى عَنْهُ
English Translation
Khalaf ibn al-Walid narrated to us, al-Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Hasan, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he was brought some dates and was impressed by their quality. He asked: 'Where are these dates from?' The man said: 'We took two sa's of these for one sa' of the others.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'That is the very essence of riba! Return it, then sell your dates and buy with its price from these.'
