English Translation

Waki' narrated from Sufyan, from 'Abd al-Karim al-Jazari who said: The grandson of Anas ibn Malik informed me, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah during the 'Umrat al-Qada' and 'Abdullah ibn Rawahah was walking before him saying: 'Get out of his way, O disbelievers, make way for him! Today we shall strike you for its revelation, with a striking that removes heads from shoulders and makes a friend forget his friend.' 'Umar said to him: 'O Ibn Rawahah, in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and in the Sacred Precinct of Allah, you recite poetry?' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Leave him, O 'Umar, for his words are swifter against them than the shooting of arrows.'
