حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ وَاصَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آخِرَ الشّ
َهْرِ وَوَاصَلَ نَاسٌ مِنْ النَّاسِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَوْ مُدَّ لَنَا الشَّهْرُ لَوَاصَلْتُ وِصَالًا يَدَعُ الْمُتَعَمِّقُونَ تَعَمُّقَهُمْ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أَظَلُّ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

English Translation
Ibn Abi 'Adiyy narrated from Humayd, from Thabit, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Prophet ﷺ practiced continuous fasting (wisal) at the end of the month, and some people practiced wisal too. When it reached the Prophet ﷺ, he said: 'If the month were extended for me, I would have practiced wisal such that those who try to exceed would stop. I am not like you — my Lord feeds me and gives me drink.'
