Abu 'Abd al-Rahman 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that my father, may Allah have mercy on him, narrated to me: Hajjaj narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Qatadah narrating from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to not raise his hands in any supplication except in the prayer for rain (istisqa'), in which he would raise his hands until the whiteness of his armpits could be seen.
