English Translation
Sulayman ibn Dawud narrated to us: Ibn 'Atiyyah — meaning al-Hakam — narrated to us from Thabit, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: 'the Prophet ﷺ used to come out to the mosque, in which were the Muhajirun and the Ansar, and not one of them would raise his head — except Abu Bakr and 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما). They would look at him and he would look at them, and they would smile at him and he would smile at them.'
