English Translation

Abd al-Samad narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn 'Atiyyah narrated to us, Abu al-Mukhays narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, your freed slave so-and-so has been martyred.' He said: 'Never! I saw upon him a cloak that he had stolen on such-and-such a day.' One of the people went and found it to be a cloak that was not worth two dirhams.
