English Translation
Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Thabit narrated to us, from Anas (رضي الله عنه), that the Prophet ﷺ entered upon a man from Banu al-Najjar to visit him in his illness. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'O maternal uncle, do you say: La ilaha illallah (There is no deity but Allah)?' He said: 'Is he my maternal uncle or my paternal uncle?' He said: 'Rather, your maternal uncle.' He said: 'Then it is better for me to say: La ilaha illallah.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed it is.'
