English Translation

'Arim narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman al-Asamm, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) a jubbah (garment) of sundus (silk brocade). 'Umar said: 'You sent this to me when you have said what you said about it (i.e., prohibiting silk for men)?' He said: 'I did not send it for you to wear it. Rather, sell it and benefit from its price.'
