Hadith #224

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ ذَكَرْنَا تَعْجِيلَ الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ ذَكَرَهَا فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ تِلْكَ صَلَاةُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ تِلْكَ صَلَاةُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يَجْلِسُ أَحَدُهُمْ حَتَّى إِذَا اصْفَرَّتْ الشَّمْسُ وَكَانَتْ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ الشَّيْطَانِ أَوْ عَلَى قَرْنِ الشَّيْطَانِ قَامَ فَنَقَرَ أَرْبَعًا لَا يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ فِيهَا إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
English Translation
He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i read to 'Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from al-'Ala' ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, who said: We visited Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) after Dhuhr, and he stood to pray 'Asr. When he finished his prayer, we mentioned the early timing of prayer — or he mentioned it — and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'That is the prayer of the hypocrites — that is the prayer of the hypocrites — that is the prayer of the hypocrites: one of them sits until the sun becomes yellow and is between the two horns of Shaytan, then he gets up and pecks four rak'ahs in which he remembers Allah only a little.'
