English Translation
Anas (رضي الله عنه) said: We were forbidden in the Quran from asking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about things [i.e., Allah revealed: 'O you who believe, do not ask about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble' (5:101)]. So it pleased us when a Bedouin from the desert folk would come and ask him while we listened. A Bedouin came and said: "O Muhammad, your messenger came to us and told us that you claim Allah sent you." He said: "He spoke the truth." He said: "Who created the heavens?" He said: "Allah." He said: "Who created the earth?" He said: "Allah." He said: "Who set up these mountains and placed in them what He placed?" He said: "Allah." He said: "By the One who created the heavens, created the earth, and set up these mountains — has Allah sent you?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Your messenger told us that there are five prayers obligated upon us in our day and night." He said: "He spoke the truth." He said: "By the One who sent you — has Allah commanded you with this?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Your messenger told us that there is zakat obligated upon our wealth." He said: "He spoke the truth." He said: "By the One who sent you — has Allah commanded you with this?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Your messenger told us that fasting the month of Ramadan is obligated upon us." He said: "He spoke the truth." He said: "By the One who sent you — has Allah commanded you with this?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Your messenger told us that Hajj to the House is obligated upon whoever is able to make the journey." He said: "He spoke the truth." Then he turned away saying: "By the One who sent you with the truth, I shall neither add to these nor fall short of them." the Prophet ﷺ said: "If he is truthful, he shall enter Paradise."
