Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا ثُمَامَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَوْهُ لَيْلَةً فِي رَمَضَانَ وَصَلَّى لَهُمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَطَالَ الصَّلَ
اةَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَطَالَ الصَّلَاةَ فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ مِرَارًا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَيْنَاكَ فَفَعَلْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَالَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) narrated: The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him one night in Ramadan. He prayed for them and made it brief, then went inside and prayed a long prayer. Then he came out and prayed for them, making it brief again. He went inside and prayed a long prayer. When morning came, they mentioned that to him. He said: "I did that deliberately."
