حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مِنْ وَلَدِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ انْصَرَفْنَا مِنْ الظُّهْرِ مَعَ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ يَا جَارِيَ

ةُ انْظُرِي هَلْ حَانَتْ قَالَ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ إِنَّمَا انْصَرَفْنَا مِنْ الظُّهْرِ الْآنَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ قَالَ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

English Translation

Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) was visited after Dhuhr prayer. He said: "O girl, see if there is water for wudu'." She brought water and he performed wudu'. He said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The key to prayer is purity, its opening is the takbir, and its closing is the taslim.'"
