حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي الدُّعَاءِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ
إِبِطَيْهِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ

English Translation
Abd as-Samad narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Thabit narrated to us, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his hands in supplication until the whiteness of his armpits could be seen. I mentioned this to Ali ibn Zayd, and he said: 'That was only in the istisqa (prayer for rain).'
