Hadith #573
فَيُقَالُ لَهُ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ لَكَ مِلْءُ الْأَرْضِ ذَهَبًا أَكُنْتَ مُفْتَدِيًا بِهِ فَيَقُولُ نَعَمْ يَا رَبِّ قَالَ فَيُقَالُ لَقَدْ سُئِلْتَ أَيْسَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَمَاتُوا وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمْ مِلْءُ الْأَرْضِ ذَهَبًا وَلَوْ افْتَدَى بِهِ }

English Translation
Rawh narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) narrated to us that the Prophet ﷺ of Allah ﷺ said: 'The disbeliever will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him: Suppose you had an earth full of gold, would you ransom yourself with it?' He will say, 'Yes.' It will be said to him, 'You were asked for something easier than that' — meaning, to worship Allah alone and not associate anything with Him — 'but you refused.'
