English Translation

Muhammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Hisham ad-Dastawai, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: I brought barley bread and rancid cooking fat to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He had already pawned his armor to a Jew in Madinah and taken barley from him for his family. I heard him say, 'Not for one evening did the household of Muhammad ﷺ possess a sa' (measure) of grain or a sa' of dates,' and at that time he had nine wives.
