‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏ثَابِتٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَسٌ ‏ ‏مَا شَمِمْتُ شَيْئًا ‏ ‏عَنْبَرًا ‏ ‏قَطُّ وَلَا ‏ ‏مِسْكًا ‏ ‏قَطُّ وَلَا شَيْئًا قَطُّ أَطْيَبَ مِنْ رِيحِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَلَا مَسِسْتُ شَيْئًا قَطُّ ‏ ‏دِيبَاجًا ‏ ‏وَلَا حَرِيرًا أَلْيَنَ مَسًّا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏ثَابِتٌ ‏ ‏فَقُلْتُ يَا ‏ ‏أَبَا حَمْزَةَ ‏ ‏أَلَسْتَ كَأَنَّكَ تَنْظُرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَكَأَنَّكَ تَسْمَعُ إِلَى نَغَمَتِهِ فَقَالَ بَلَى ‏ ‏وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَلْقَاهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَأَقُولَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏خُوَيْدِمُكَ ‏ ‏قَالَ خَدَمْتُهُ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ ‏ ‏بِالْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ لَيْسَ كُلُّ أَمْرِي كَمَا ‏ ‏يَشْتَهِي صَاحِبِي أَنْ يَكُونَ مَا قَالَ لِي فِيهَا ‏ ‏أُفٍّ ‏ ‏وَلَا قَالَ لِي لِمَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا وَأَلَّا فَعَلْتَ هَذَا ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us, he said Thabit informed us, Anas (رضي الله عنه) said: I never smelled any ambergris or musk or anything at all more fragrant than the scent of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. And I never touched any silk or brocade softer than the palm of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنِّي لَأَسْعَى فِي الْغِلْمَانِ يَقُولُونَ جَاءَ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٌ ‏ ‏فَأَسْعَى فَلَا أَرَى شَيْئًا ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ جَاءَ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٌ ‏ ‏فَأَسْعَى فَلَا أَرَى شَيْئًا قَالَ حَتَّى جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَصَاحِبُهُ ‏ ‏أَبُو بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏فَكُنَّا فِي بَعْضِ حِرَارِ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ بَعَثَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏لِيُؤْذِنَ بِهِمَا ‏ ‏الْأَنْصَارَ ‏ ‏فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُمَا ‏ ‏زُهَاءَ ‏ ‏خَمْسِ مِائَةٍ مِنْ ‏ ‏الْأَنْصَارِ ‏ ‏حَتَّى انْتَهَوْا إِلَيْهِمَا فَقَالَتْ ‏ ‏الْأَنْصَارُ ‏ ‏انْطَلِقَا آمِنَيْنِ مُطَاعَيْنِ فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَصَاحِبُهُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ فَخَرَجَ أَهْلُ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏حَتَّى إِنَّ ‏ ‏الْعَوَاتِقَ ‏ ‏لَفَوْقَ الْبُيُوتِ يَتَرَاءَيْنَهُ يَقُلْنَ أَيُّهُمْ هُوَ أَيُّهُمْ هُوَ قَالَ ‏ ‏فَمَا رَأَيْنَا مَنْظَرًا مُشْبِهًا بِهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَوْمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا وَيَوْمَ ‏ ‏قُبِضَ ‏ ‏فَلَمْ أَرَ يَوْمَيْنِ مُشْبِهًا بِهِمَا ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: I was running among the boys when they were saying, 'Muhammad has come!' So I would run but see nothing. Then they said again, 'Muhammad has come!' So I would run but see nothing. Until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) arrived. They took shelter in some date-palm gardens, then they sent a man from the people of Madinah to announce their arrival. About five hundred of the Ansar came out to meet them until they reached them. The Ansar said, 'Proceed, both of you, in safety and obedience.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr proceeded among them.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ‏ ‏وَقَتَادَةَ ‏ ‏وَحَمْزَةَ الضَّبِّيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُمْ سَمِعُوا ‏ ‏أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ هَكَذَا وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى ‏ ‏وَكَانَ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏كَفَضْلِ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu at-Tayyah, Qatadah, and Hamzah ad-Dabbi, that they all heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) saying from the Prophet ﷺ: 'I have been sent, and the Hour, like these,' and he pointed with his index finger and middle finger.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ قَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏إِنَّ ‏ ‏أَصْحَابَ الْكِتَابِ ‏ ‏يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْنَا فَكَيْفَ نَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ قُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Qatadah who said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) said: The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the People of the Book greet us with salam, so how should we respond to them?' He said, 'Say: wa alaykum (and upon you).'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قُلْتُ لَهُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتَ ‏ ‏أَنَسًا ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي ‏ ‏النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ‏ ‏ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ ‏ ‏أَوْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ ‏ ‏قَالَ نَعَمْ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Mu'awiyah ibn Qurrah Abu Iyas who said: I asked him, 'Did you hear Anas (رضي الله عنه) narrating from the Prophet ﷺ that he said about an-Nu'man ibn Muqarrin: "The nephew of a people is from them"?' He said, 'Yes.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لِلْأَنْصَارِ ‏ ‏أَفِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ قَالُوا ابْنُ أُخْتٍ لَنَا قَالَ ‏ ‏ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ ‏ ‏مِنْهُمْ ‏ ‏أَوْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Qatadah who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) saying from the Prophet ﷺ, to the Ansar: 'Is there anyone among you who is not from you?' They said, 'A son of our sister.' He ﷺ said, 'The nephew of a people is from them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏أَنْبَأَنِي ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يُضَحِّي بِكَبْشَيْنِ ‏ ‏أَمْلَحَيْنِ ‏ ‏أَقْرَنَيْنِ ‏ ‏وَيُسَمِّي وَيُكَبِّرُ وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَذْبَحُهُمَا بِيَدِهِ وَاضِعًا عَلَى ‏ ‏صِفَاحِهِمَا ‏ ‏قَدَمَهُ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Qatadah informed me, he said I heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه). I said, 'Did you hear it yourself?' He said, 'Yes.' He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sacrifice two salt-and-pepper colored, horned rams. He would say 'Bismillah, Allahu Akbar,' place his foot on their sides, and slaughter them with his own hand.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ مِنَّا رَجُلٌ مِنْ ‏ ‏بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ‏ ‏قَدْ قَرَأَ ‏ ‏الْبَقَرَةَ ‏ ‏وَآلَ ‏ ‏عِمْرَانَ ‏ ‏وَكَانَ يَكْتُبُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَانْطَلَقَ هَارِبًا حَتَّى لَحِقَ ‏ ‏بِأَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَرَفَعُوهُ وَقَالُوا هَذَا كَانَ يَكْتُبُ ‏ ‏لِمُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَأُعْجِبُوا بِهِ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ ‏ ‏قَصَمَ ‏ ‏اللَّهُ عُنُقَهُ فِيهِمْ فَحَفَرُوا لَهُ ‏ ‏فَوَارَوْهُ ‏ ‏فَأَصْبَحَتْ الْأَرْضُ قَدْ ‏ ‏نَبَذَتْهُ ‏ ‏عَلَى وَجْهِهَا ثُمَّ عَادُوا فَحَفَرُوا لَهُ ‏ ‏فَوَارَوْهُ ‏ ‏فَأَصْبَحَتْ الْأَرْضُ قَدْ ‏ ‏نَبَذَتْهُ ‏ ‏عَلَى وَجْهِهَا ثُمَّ عَادُوا فَحَفَرُوا لَهُ فَوَارَوْهُ فَأَصْبَحَتْ الْأَرْضُ قَدْ نَبَذَتْهُ عَلَى وَجْهِهَا فَتَرَكُوهُ مَنْبُوذًا ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: There was a man among us from Banu an-Najjar who had memorized Surah al-Baqarah and Al Imran, and he used to write for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He fled and joined the People of the Book. They were impressed with him, saying, 'This man used to write for Muhammad.' But then Allah caused him to die, and they dug a grave for him and buried him. The next morning, the earth had expelled him, throwing him out on the surface. So they dug his grave deeper and buried him again, but the earth expelled him again. They dug even deeper and buried him, and again the earth expelled him. They realized this was not the work of humans, so they left him cast out.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ابْنٌ ‏ ‏لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ ‏ ‏لَهُ ‏ ‏نُغَرٌ ‏ ‏يَلْعَبُ بِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَا ‏ ‏أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ ‏ ‏مَا فَعَلَ ‏ ‏النُّغَيْرُ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: Abu Talhah (رضي الله عنه) had a young son who had a pet bird (nughayr) that he played with. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Abu Umayr, what happened to the nughayr (little bird)?'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏وَصَفَ لَنَا ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ ‏ ‏قَامَ ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي بِنَا فَرَكَعَ فَاسْتَوَى قَائِمًا حَتَّى رَأَى بَعْضُنَا أَنَّهُ قَدْ نَسِيَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَاسْتَوَى قَاعِدًا حَتَّى رَأَى بَعْضُنَا أَنَّهُ قَدْ نَسِيَ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى قَاعِدًا ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us, from Thabit who said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) described to us the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then he stood and led us in prayer. When he bowed, he stood up straight for so long that some of us thought he had forgotten. Then he prostrated and sat between the two prostrations for so long that some of us thought he had forgotten.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى ‏ ‏الرُّومِ ‏ ‏قِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ كِتَابَكَ لَا يُقْرَأُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ مَخْتُومًا ‏ ‏فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَنَقَشَهُ ‏ ‏أَوْ نَقَشَ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٌ ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ فِي يَدِهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةَ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى ‏ ‏الرُّومِ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Qatadah informed me, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to write to the Romans, he was told, 'They will not read your letter unless it is sealed.' So he had a ring made of silver, with the inscription 'Muhammad Rasulullah (Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ).'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏وَحُسَيْنٌ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَكْحُولٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُوسَى بْنِ أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَمْ يَبْلُغْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مِنْ الشَّيْبِ مَا يَخْضِبُهُ ‏ ‏وَلَكِنْ ‏ ‏أَبُو بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَخْضِبُ ‏ ‏رَأْسَهُ وَلِحْيَتَهُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ ‏ ‏وَالْكَتَمِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَتَّى يَقْنَئُوا شَعْرَهُمْ ‏

Hashim and Husayn narrated to us, they said Muhammad ibn Rashid narrated to us, from Makhul, from Musa ibn Anas, from his father (Anas رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not have enough gray hair to dye. However, Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) dyed his hair with henna and katam (a dark plant dye), and Umar (رضي الله عنه) dyed with henna alone.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيَّ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ رَأَى فِي يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏خَاتَمًا مِنْ ‏ ‏وَرِقٍ ‏ ‏يَوْمًا وَاحِدًا فَصَنَعَ النَّاسُ الْخَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ‏ ‏وَرِقٍ ‏ ‏فَلَبِسُوهَا ‏ ‏فَطَرَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏خَاتَمَهُ فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, he said I heard az-Zuhri narrating from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) that he saw on the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a silver ring for one day. The people then made rings, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ discarded his ring, and the people discarded their rings.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ‏ ‏وَهَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏لَيْثٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ ‏ ‏حَيَّةٌ ‏ ‏فَيَذْهَبُ الذَّاهِبُ إِلَى ‏ ‏الْعَوَالِي ‏ ‏فَيَأْتِي ‏ ‏الْعَوَالِيَ ‏ ‏وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ ‏

Ishaq ibn Isa and Hashim narrated to us, they said Layth narrated to us, Ibn Shihab narrated to me, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Asr prayer while the sun was still high and bright. A person could then go to al-Awali and arrive there while the sun was still high. Some parts of al-Awali were about four miles from Madinah.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏لَيْثٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَسِبْتُهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مُتَعَمِّدًا ‏ ‏فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ ‏ ‏مَقْعَدَهُ مِنْ النَّارِ ‏

Ishaq narrated to us, Layth narrated to me, Ibn Shihab narrated to me, from Anas (رضي الله عنه), from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: 'Whoever lies about me' — he said, I think he said 'deliberately' — 'let him take his seat in the Fire.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏حُمَيْدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ قَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَسٌ ‏ ‏لَا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَعْجَبُوا لِعَمَلِ رَجُلٍ حَتَّى تَعْلَمُوا مَا يُخْتَمُ لَهُ بِهِ فَقَدْ يَعْمَلُ الرَّجُلُ بُرْهَةً مِنْ دَهْرِهِ أَوْ زَمَانًا مِنْ عُمْرِهِ عَمَلًا سَيِّئًا لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ مَاتَ عَلَى شَرٍّ فَيَتَحَوَّلُ إِلَى عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ فَيُخْتَمُ لَهُ بِهِ وَقَدْ يَعْمَلُ الْعَبْدُ بُرْهَةً مِنْ دَهْرِهِ أَوْ زَمَانًا مِنْ عُمْرِهِ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ مَاتَ عَلَى خَيْرٍ فَيَتَحَوَّلُ إِلَى عَمَلٍ سَيِّئٍ فَيُخْتَمُ لَهُ بِهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏وَقَدْ رَفَعَهُ ‏ ‏حُمَيْدٌ ‏ ‏مَرَّةً ثُمَّ كَفَّ عَنْهُ ‏

Muhammad ibn Abi Adiyy narrated to us, from Humayd who said: Anas (رضي الله عنه) said: 'You should not marvel at anyone's deeds until you see what end he is granted. A person may do evil deeds for a stretch of his life or a period of his lifetime. If he had died upon that, he would have been among the people of the Fire. But then Allah guides him to good deeds. And a person may do righteous deeds for a period of his life. If he had died upon that, he would have been among the people of Paradise. But then Allah directs him to evil deeds. When Allah wishes good for a servant, He employs him before his death.' They asked, 'How does He employ him?' He said, 'He guides him to perform righteous deeds and then takes his soul upon them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏سَيَقْدَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ قَوْمٌ هُمْ أَرَقُّ قُلُوبًا لِلْإِسْلَامِ مِنْكُمْ قَالَ فَقَدِمَ ‏ ‏الْأَشْعَرِيُّونَ ‏ ‏مِنْهُمْ ‏ ‏أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ ‏ ‏فَلَمَّا قَرُبُوا مِنْ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏جَعَلُوا ‏ ‏يَرْتَجِزُونَ ‏ ‏وَجَعَلُوا يَقُولُونَ ‏ ‏غَدًا نَلْقَى الْأَحِبَّةَ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدًا ‏ ‏وَحِزْبَهُ ‏ ‏قَالَ وَكَانَ هُمْ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَحْدَثَ ‏ ‏الْمُصَافَحَةَ ‏

Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us, he said Yahya ibn Ayyub informed us, Humayd at-Tawil narrated to us, he said I heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) saying: the Prophet ﷺ said: 'There will come to you a people who are more tender-hearted toward Islam than you.' The delegation of al-Ash'ariyyun came, among them Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (رضي الله عنه). When they drew near Madinah, they began chanting: 'Tomorrow we shall meet the beloved ones, Muhammad and his party.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَفَّانُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَتْنِي ‏ ‏حَفْصَةُ بِنْتُ سِيرِينَ ‏ ‏قَالَتْ ‏ ‏قَالَ لِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏بِمَ مَاتَ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ ‏ ‏فَقُلْتُ بِالطَّاعُونِ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الطَّاعُونُ شَهَادَةٌ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ ‏

Affan narrated to us, Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, Asim al-Ahwal narrated to us, Hafsah bint Sirin narrated to me, she said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) said to me, 'What did Yahya ibn Abi Amrah die of?' I said, 'Of the plague.' Anas ibn Malik said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The plague is martyrdom for every Muslim.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَدِمَ ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏عَلَى ‏ ‏الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ‏ ‏فَسَأَلَهُ مَاذَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَذْكُرُ بِهِ السَّاعَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ ‏ ‏أَنْتُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ ‏

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, al-Awza'i narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Ubaydullah narrated to us, he said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) came to al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik, who asked him, 'What did you hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the mention of the Hour?' He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'You and the Hour are like these two,' and he joined his two fingers together.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ‏ ‏قَالَ كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏وَعُمَرَ ‏ ‏وَعُثْمَانَ ‏ ‏رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ ‏ ‏فَكَانُوا ‏ ‏يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِ ‏ { ‏الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ‏} ‏لَا يَذْكُرُونَ ‏ { ‏بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏} ‏فِي أَوَّلِ الْقِرَاءَةِ وَلَا فِي آخِرِهَا ‏

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, al-Awza'i narrated to us, he said Qatadah wrote to me: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) narrated to me, he said: I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (رضي الله عنهم), and they would begin the prayer with 'Alhamdulillahi Rabbil-Alamin (Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds).'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏ ‏وَقَدْ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَاهُ ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَيَكُونُ فِي أُمَّتِي خِلَافٌ وَفُرْقَةٌ قَوْمٌ يُحْسِنُونَ الْقِيلَ وَيُسِيئُونَ الْفِعْلَ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ ‏ ‏تَرَاقِيَهُمْ ‏ ‏يَحْقِرُ أَحَدُكُمْ صَلَاتَهُ مَعَ صَلَاتِهِمْ وَصِيَامَهُ مَعَ صِيَامِهِمْ ‏ ‏يَمْرُقُونَ ‏ ‏مِنْ الدِّينِ ‏ ‏مُرُوقَ ‏ ‏السَّهْمِ مِنْ ‏ ‏الرَّمِيَّةِ ‏ ‏لَا يَرْجِعُونَ حَتَّى يَرْتَدُّوا عَلَى ‏ ‏فُوقِهِ ‏ ‏هُمْ شَرُّ الْخَلْقِ وَالْخَلِيقَةِ ‏ ‏طُوبَى ‏ ‏لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ وَقَتَلُوهُ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَيْسُوا مِنْهُ فِي شَيْءٍ مَنْ قَاتَلَهُمْ كَانَ أَوْلَى بِاللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا سِيمَاهُمْ قَالَ التَّحْلِيقُ ‏

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, he said al-Awza'i narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to me, from Anas ibn Malik and Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنهما) — and Abu al-Mughirah also narrated it to us from Anas, from Abu Sa'id — who reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'People will be struck unconscious on the Day of Resurrection, and I will be the first to regain consciousness. And there I will see Musa (عليه السلام) holding onto one of the pillars of the Throne. I do not know whether he regained consciousness before me or whether he was among those whom Allah exempted.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْمَسْجِدَ وَعَلَيْهِ رِدَاءٌ نَجْرَانِيٌّ غَلِيظُ الصَّنْعَةِ فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ‏ ‏فَجَذَبَ بِطَرَفِ رِدَائِهِ جَذْبَةً شَدِيدَةً حَتَّى أَثَّرَتْ الصَّنْعَةُ فِي ‏ ‏صَفْحِ ‏ ‏عُنُقِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ يَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ ‏ ‏أَعْطِنَا مِنْ مَالِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي عِنْدَكَ قَالَ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَتَبَسَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ مُرُوا لَهُ ‏

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, al-Awza'i narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah narrated to me, Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) narrated to me, he said: the Prophet ﷺ entered the mosque wearing a thick Najrani cloak with a coarse border. A bedouin came to him from behind and pulled his cloak so forcefully that it left a mark on the side of the Prophet ﷺ's neck. Then the bedouin said, 'O Muhammad, give me some of Allah's wealth that you have.' the Prophet ﷺ turned to him, smiled, and ordered that he be given something.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏صَفْوَانُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏رَاشِدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا ‏ ‏عَرَجَ ‏ ‏بِي رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَرَرْتُ بِقَوْمٍ لَهُمْ أَظْفَارٌ مِنْ نُحَاسٍ يَخْمُشُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَصُدُورَهُمْ فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ يَا ‏ ‏جِبْرِيلُ ‏ ‏قَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ لُحُومَ النَّاسِ وَيَقَعُونَ فِي أَعْرَاضِهِمْ ‏

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, Rashid ibn Sa'd and Abd ar-Rahman ibn Jubayr narrated to me, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When my Lord عز وجل took me up (in the Night Journey), I passed by a people who had copper nails with which they were scratching their faces and chests. I said, "Who are these, O Jibril?" He said, "These are those who used to eat the flesh of people (backbiting) and attack their honor."'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ ‏ ‏مَوْلَى ‏ ‏بَنِي الْمُعَلَّى ‏ ‏يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏ثَابِتًا الْبُنَانِيَّ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏لِجِبْرِيلَ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏مَا لِي لَمْ أَرَ ‏ ‏مِيكَائِيلَ ‏ ‏ضَاحِكًا قَطُّ قَالَ مَا ضَحِكَ ‏ ‏مِيكَائِيلُ ‏ ‏مُنْذُ خُلِقَتْ النَّارُ ‏

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Umarah ibn Ghaziyyah al-Ansari, that he heard Humayd ibn Ubayd — the freed slave of Banu al-Mu'alla — saying: I heard Thabit al-Bunani narrating from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه), from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: 'No servant of Allah who dies and has good with Allah would wish to return to this world, even if he were given the entire world and everything in it, except the martyr. He wishes to return to the world so that he may be killed again, for what he sees of the honor of martyrdom.'

Muhammad ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, al-Awza'i narrated to us, from Rabi'ah ibn Abi Abd ar-Rahman, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Dajjal will emerge from the Jews of Asbahan (Isfahan), and with him will be seventy thousand Jews wearing crowns.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُرْوَةَ بْنِ رُوَيْمٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَقْبَلَ ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏إِلَى ‏ ‏مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏وَهُوَ ‏ ‏بِدِمَشْقَ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ‏ ‏مُعَاوِيَةُ ‏ ‏حَدِّثْنِي بِحَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَيْسَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ فِيهِ أَحَدٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ قَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَسٌ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ هَكَذَا إِلَى ‏ ‏لَخْمٍ ‏ ‏وَجُذَامَ ‏

Ali ibn Ayyash narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muhajir narrated to us, from Urwah ibn Ruwaym who said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) came to Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan (رضي الله عنه) while he was in Damascus. He entered upon him, and Mu'awiyah said, 'Tell me a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no intermediary.' Anas said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever says "La ilaha illallah" sincerely, it will be made to pile up for him until the Day of Resurrection.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لِلْأَنْصَارِ ‏ ‏إِنَّكُمْ سَتَجِدُونَ ‏ ‏أَثَرَةً ‏ ‏شَدِيدَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنِّي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ قَالُوا سَنَصْبِرُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَأَخْفَاهُ وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ‏

Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Abdullah informed us, he said Yunus informed us, from az-Zuhri who said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) informed me, he said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the Ansar: 'You will find after me selfishness and preferential treatment (given to others over you), so be patient until you meet me at the Hawd (Pool).'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدًا ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَإِذَا شَهِدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدًا ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏وَاسْتَقْبَلُوا قِبْلَتَنَا وَأَكَلُوا ذَبِيحَتَنَا وَصَلَّوْا صَلَاتَنَا فَقَدْ حَرُمَتْ عَلَيْنَا دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَأَمْوَالُهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا لَهُمْ مَا لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَعَلَيْهِمْ مَا عَلَيْهِمْ ‏

Ali ibn Ishaq and al-Hasan ibn Yahya narrated to us, they said Abdullah — meaning Ibn al-Mubarak — narrated to us, he said Humayd at-Tawil informed us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When they say it, their blood and property become protected from me, except by its right, and their account is with Allah.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَا عِنْدَ ‏ ‏ثَفِنَاتِ ‏ ‏نَاقَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏حِينَ قَالَ ‏ ‏لَبَّيْكَ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ مَعًا وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ ‏

Muhammad ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, al-Awza'i narrated to us, from Ayyub ibn Musa, from Abdullah ibn Umayr, from Thabit, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: I was at the calloused knees of the camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said the talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah together. He said: 'Labbayk Umratan wa Hajjan (Here I am for Umrah and Hajj).'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُعَانِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ بُخْتٍ الْمَكِّيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏نَضَّرَ ‏ ‏اللَّهُ عَبْدًا سَمِعَ مَقَالَتِي هَذِهِ فَحَمَلَهَا فَرُبَّ حَامِلِ الْفِقْهِ فِيهِ غَيْرُ فَقِيهٍ وَرُبَّ حَامِلِ الْفِقْهِ إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ أَفْقَهُ مِنْهُ ‏ ‏ثَلَاثٌ لَا ‏ ‏يُغِلُّ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِنَّ صَدْرُ مُسْلِمٍ إِخْلَاصُ الْعَمَلِ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَمُنَاصَحَةُ ‏ ‏أُولِي ‏ ‏الْأَمْرِ وَلُزُومُ جَمَاعَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَإِنَّ دَعْوَتَهُمْ تُحِيطُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ ‏

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, from Mu'an ibn Rifa'ah who said: Abd al-Wahhab ibn Bukht al-Makki narrated to me, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه), from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: 'May Allah brighten the face of a person who hears what I have said, retains it, and conveys it as he heard it. Perhaps a carrier of knowledge conveys it to one who is more understanding than him.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏وَيُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْعَطَّافُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ ‏ ‏عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ‏ ‏الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفْنَا إِلَى ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏نَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ ‏ ‏شَاكِيًا ‏ ‏فَلَمَّا دَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ سَلَّمْنَا قَالَ أَصَلَّيْتُمْ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ يَا ‏ ‏جَارِيَةُ ‏ ‏هَلُمِّي لِي وَضُوءًا مَا صَلَّيْتُ وَرَاءَ إِمَامٍ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَشْبَهَ صَلَاةً بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مِنْ إِمَامِكُمْ هَذَا ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏عِصَامٌ ‏ ‏فِي حَدِيثِهِ كَذَا ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏زَيْدٌ ‏ ‏مَا يَذْكُرُ فِي ذَلِكَ ‏ ‏أَبَا بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏وَلَا ‏ ‏عُمَرَ ‏ ‏قَالَ قَالَ ‏ ‏زَيْدٌ ‏ ‏وَكَانَ ‏ ‏عُمَرُ ‏ ‏يُتِمُّ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ وَيُخَفِّفُ الْقُعُودَ وَالْقِيَامَ ‏

Isam ibn Khalid and Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, they said al-Attaf ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam who said: We prayed Zuhr with Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, then we went to Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) to ask about him — he was ill. Anas said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Faith is of two halves: half is patience and half is gratitude.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي الزُّهْرِيَّ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ رَأَى فِي أُصْبُعِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏خَاتَمًا مِنْ ‏ ‏وَرِقٍ ‏ ‏يَوْمًا وَاحِدًا ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّاسَ ‏ ‏اضْطَرَبُوا ‏ ‏خَوَاتِمَ مِنْ ‏ ‏وَرِقٍ ‏ ‏فَلَبِسُوهَا ‏ ‏فَطَرَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏خَاتَمَهُ فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ ‏

Bishr ibn Shu'ayb ibn Abi Hamzah narrated to us, he said my father informed me, he said Muhammad — meaning az-Zuhri — informed me: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) told me that he saw a silver ring on the finger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for one day. The people then made rings. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw away his ring, and the people threw away theirs.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ فِي حَوْضِي مِنْ الْأَبَارِيقِ عَدَدَ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ ‏

Bishr ibn Shu'ayb narrated to us, he said my father narrated to me, from az-Zuhri who said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'In my Hawd (Pool), there are as many pitchers as the number of stars in the sky.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏شُعَيْبٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَا تَبَاغَضُوا وَلَا ‏ ‏تَحَاسَدُوا ‏ ‏وَلَا ‏ ‏تَدَابَرُوا ‏ ‏وَكُونُوا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِخْوَانًا وَلَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثِ لَيَالٍ يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلَامِ ‏

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Shu'ayb informed us, from az-Zuhri who said: Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) informed me that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not hate one another, do not envy one another, do not turn your backs on one another, and be servants of Allah as brothers. It is not permissible for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three days.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي عِقَالٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَسْقَلَانُ ‏ ‏أَحَدُ الْعَرُوسَيْنِ يُبْعَثُ مِنْهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا لَا حِسَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيُبْعَثُ مِنْهَا خَمْسُونَ أَلْفًا شُهَدَاءَ وُفُودًا إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَبِهَا صُفُوفُ الشُّهَدَاءِ رُءُوسُهُمْ مُقَطَّعَةٌ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ ‏ ‏تَثِجُّ ‏ ‏أَوْدَاجُهُمْ ‏ ‏دَمًا يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مَا وَعَدْتَنَا عَلَى رُسُلِكَ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ فَيَقُولُ ‏ ‏صَدَقَ عَبِيدِي اغْسِلُوهُمْ بِنَهَرِ ‏ ‏الْبَيْضَةِ ‏ ‏فَيَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهَا نُقِيًّا بِيضًا فَيَسْرَحُونَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ حَيْثُ شَاءُوا ‏

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, he said Isma'il ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Umar ibn Muhammad, from Abu Iqal, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Ashqelon is one of the two brides (blessed cities). From it, on the Day of Resurrection, seventy thousand people will be raised who will not be held to account.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بُرَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الدَّعْوَةُ لَا تُرَدُّ بَيْنَ الْأَذَانِ وَالْإِقَامَةِ فَادْعُوا ‏

Isma'il ibn Umar narrated to us, he said Yunus narrated to us, Burayd ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Supplication is not rejected between the adhan and the iqamah, so make supplication.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏دَعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏رَجُلٌ فَانْطَلَقَ وَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ قَالَ فَجِيءَ بِمَرَقَةٍ فِيهَا ‏ ‏دُبَّاءٌ ‏ ‏فَجَعَلَ ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَأْكُلُ ذَلِكَ ‏ ‏الدُّبَّاءَ ‏ ‏وَيُعْجِبُهُ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ ذَلِكَ جَعَلْتُ ‏ ‏أُلْقِيهِ إِلَيْهِ وَلَا أَطْعَمُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَنَسٌ ‏ ‏فَمَا زِلْتُ أُحِبُّهُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيَّ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏مَا أَتَيْنَا ‏ ‏أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَطُّ فِي زَمَانِ ‏ ‏الدُّبَّاءِ ‏ ‏إِلَّا وَجَدْنَاهُ فِي طَعَامِهِ ‏

Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: A man invited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he went and I went with him. A broth was brought containing gourd (dubba'). the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began picking out the pieces of gourd from around the bowl. Anas said: From that day on, I have loved gourd.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْعَمِّيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَا ‏ ‏يَلِجُ ‏ ‏حَائِطَ ‏ ‏الْقُدُسِ ‏ ‏مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ وَلَا الْعَاقُّ لِوَالِدَيْهِ وَلَا ‏ ‏الْمَنَّانُ ‏ ‏عَطَاءَهُ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Ammi narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The habitual drinker of alcohol, the one who is undutiful to his parents, and the one who reminds others of his favors will not enter the Garden of al-Quds (Paradise).'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عِيسَى بْنُ طَهْمَانَ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَنَسًا ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَتْ ‏ ‏زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ ‏ ‏تَفْخَرُ عَلَى نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏تَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْكَحَنِي مِنْ السَّمَاءِ وَأَطْعَمَ عَلَيْهَا يَوْمَئِذٍ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا وَكَانَ الْقَوْمُ جُلُوسًا كَمَا هُمْ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَخَرَجَ فَلَبِثَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَلْبَثَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَالْقَوْمُ جُلُوسٌ كَمَا هُمْ ‏ ‏فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعُرِفَ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَنُزِّلَ ‏ ‏آيَةُ الْحِجَابِ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Isa ibn Tahman narrated to us, he said I heard Anas (رضي الله عنه) saying: Zaynab bint Jahsh (رضي الله عنها) used to boast over the other wives of the Prophet ﷺ, saying, 'Allah عز وجل married me to him from above the seven heavens.' And the verse of hijab was revealed regarding her.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْمُبَارَكُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْحَسَنُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي بَيْتِهِ فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ مَتَى السَّاعَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهَا قَائِمَةٌ فَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا قَالَ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَعْدَدْتُ مِنْ كَثِيرِ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏فَإِنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكَ مَا احْتَسَبْتَ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, al-Mubarak narrated to us, al-Hasan narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: I was with the Prophet ﷺ in his house when a man asked, 'When is the Hour, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Indeed, it is established. But what have you prepared for it?' The man said, 'I have not prepared for it with much prayer or fasting, but I love Allah and His Messenger.' He ﷺ said, 'A person will be with those whom he loves.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْمُبَارَكُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْحَسَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا خَطَبَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ يُسْنِدُ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى خَشَبَةٍ فَلَمَّا كَثُرَ النَّاسُ قَالَ ‏ ‏ابْنُوا لِي مِنْبَرًا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُسْمِعَهُمْ فَبَنَوْا لَهُ عَتَبَتَيْنِ فَتَحَوَّلَ مِنْ الْخَشَبَةِ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ قَالَ فَأَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ الْخَشَبَةَ تَحِنُّ حَنِينَ الْوَالِدِ قَالَ فَمَا زَالَتْ تَحِنُّ حَتَّى نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ الْمِنْبَرِ فَمَشَى إِلَيْهَا فَاحْتَضَنَهَا فَسَكَنَتْ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, al-Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Hasan, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he used to deliver the Friday sermon, would lean his back against a wooden post. When the number of people increased, he said, 'Build me a minbar (pulpit).' So they built one with two steps and a seat. When the Prophet ﷺ sat on the minbar, the wooden post moaned like a pregnant she-camel. the Prophet ﷺ descended and embraced it, and it quieted. the Prophet ﷺ said, 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, had I not embraced it, it would have continued moaning until the Day of Resurrection.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ ‏ ‏وَضَلَعِ ‏ ‏الدَّيْنِ ‏ ‏وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz — meaning Ibn Abi Salamah — narrated to us, from Amr ibn Abi Amr, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Prophet ﷺ used to say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَدْخُلُ بَيْتَ ‏ ‏أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ‏ ‏وَيَنَامُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهَا وَلَيْسَتْ فِي بَيْتِهَا قَالَ فَأُتِيَتْ يَوْمًا فَقِيلَ لَهَا هَذَا النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَائِمٌ عَلَى فِرَاشِكِ قَالَتْ فَجِئْتُ وَذَاكَ فِي الصَّيْفِ فَعَرِقَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏حَتَّى ‏ ‏اسْتَنْقَعَ ‏ ‏عَرَقُهُ عَلَى قِطْعَةِ ‏ ‏أَدَمٍ ‏ ‏عَلَى الْفِرَاشِ ‏ ‏فَجَعَلْتُ أُنَشِّفُ ذَلِكَ الْعَرَقَ وَأَعْصِرُهُ فِي ‏ ‏قَارُورَةٍ ‏ ‏فَفَزِعَ وَأَنَا أَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ مَا تَصْنَعِينَ يَا ‏ ‏أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ ‏ ‏قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَرْجُو بَرَكَتَهُ لِصِبْيَانِنَا قَالَ أَصَبْتِ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz narrated to us, from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Prophet ﷺ used to enter the house of Umm Sulaym and sleep on her bed while she was not at home. One day he came and slept on her bed, and she was told, 'the Prophet ﷺ is sleeping in your house, on your bed.' She came and found him sweating, and his sweat was collecting on a piece of leather on the bed. She opened her bottle and began wiping the sweat, collecting it. the Prophet ﷺ woke up and said, 'What are you doing, O Umm Sulaym?' She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we hope for its blessing for our children.' He said, 'You have done well.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَاشِمٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي بَيْتِ ‏ ‏أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ‏ ‏عَلَى حَصِيرٍ قَدْ تَغَيَّرَ مِنْ الْقِدَمِ وَنَضَحَهُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَسَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ ‏

Hashim narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz narrated to us, from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer at the house of Umm Sulaym on a mat that had become discolored from age. He sprinkled water on it, and I and an orphan stood behind him, and Umm Sulaym stood behind us.
