English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abi Adiyy narrated to us, from Humayd who said: Anas (رضي الله عنه) said: 'You should not marvel at anyone's deeds until you see what end he is granted. A person may do evil deeds for a stretch of his life or a period of his lifetime. If he had died upon that, he would have been among the people of the Fire. But then Allah guides him to good deeds. And a person may do righteous deeds for a period of his life. If he had died upon that, he would have been among the people of Paradise. But then Allah directs him to evil deeds. When Allah wishes good for a servant, He employs him before his death.' They asked, 'How does He employ him?' He said, 'He guides him to perform righteous deeds and then takes his soul upon them.'
