Hadith #202

حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ بَلَغَ مُصْعَبَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَرِيفِ الْأَنْصَارِ شَيْءٌ فَهَمَّ بِهِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم
َ يَقُولُ اسْتَوْصُوا بِالْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرًا أَوْ قَالَ مَعْرُوفًا اقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ فَأَلْقَى مُصْعَبٌ نَفْسَهُ عَنْ سَرِيرِهِ وَأَلْزَقَ خَدَّهُ بِالْبِسَاطِ وَقَالَ أَمْرُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الرَّأْسِ وَالْعَيْنِ فَتَرَكَهُ

English Translation
Mu'ammal narrated to us, Hammad — meaning Ibn Salamah — narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Zayd narrated, he said: Something reached Mus'ab ibn al-Zubayr about the chief of the Ansar, and he intended to act against him. Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) entered upon him and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The Ansar are my inner circle and my trusted ones. People will increase while they decrease. So accept from their good-doers and overlook their wrongdoers.'
