English Translation

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Humayd narrated to us who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) say that Abu Musa said: 'We asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for mounts, and he swore not to give us any. Then he gave us mounts. I said: O Messenger of Allah, you swore not to give us mounts and then you gave us mounts. He said: Indeed, whenever I swear an oath and then see something better than it, I do what is better and expiate for my oath.'
