Hadith #435

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِحْدَى أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِقَصْعَةٍ فِيهَا طَعَامٌ فَضَرَبَتْ يَدَ الْخَادِمِ فَسَقَطَتْ الْقَصْعَةُ فَانْفَلَقَتْ فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَضَمَّ الْكَسْرَيْنِ وَجَعَلَ يَجْمَعُ فِيهَا الطَّعَامَ وَيَقُولُ غَارَتْ أُمُّكُمْ غَارَتْ أُمُّكُمْ وَيَقُولُ لِلْقَوْمِ كُلُوا وَحَبَسَ الرَّسُولَ حَتَّى جَاءَتْ الْأُخْرَى بِقَصْعَتِهَا فَدَفَعَ الْقَصْعَةَ الصَّحِيحَةَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الَّتِي كُسِرَتْ قَصْعَتُهَا وَتَرَكَ الْمَكْسُورَةُ لِلَّتِي كَسَرَتْ
English Translation
Abdullah ibn Bakr narrated to us, Humayd narrated to us, from Anas that the Prophet ﷺ was at the house of one of his wives when one of the Mothers of the Believers sent a bowl of food with a servant. The wife in whose house he was struck the servant's hand and the bowl fell and broke. the Prophet ﷺ gathered the pieces and collected the food into it, saying: "Your mother was jealous." Then he kept the servant until a replacement bowl was brought, and he gave the intact bowl to the one whose bowl was broken, and kept the broken one in the house of the one who broke it.
