Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا ثُمَامَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفّ
َفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَطَالَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ قَالُوا جِئْنَاكَ الْبَارِحَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَصَلَّيْتَ بِنَا فَخَفَّفْتَ ثُمَّ دَخَلْتَ بَيْتَكَ فَأَطَلْتَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَكَانَ حَدَّثَنَا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ثَابِتٌ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ فَلَقِيتُ ثُمَامَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ

English Translation
Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Thumamah narrated to us, from Anas that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him, and he went out and prayed with them, making the prayer brief. Then he entered his house and prayed at length. Then he came out to them and prayed with them, making the prayer brief. Then he entered his house and prayed at length. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you make the prayer brief with us and lengthen it in your house.' He ﷺ said: "I did that for your sake."
