حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مِسْكِينٍ عَنْ أَبِي ظِلَالٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ ع
َلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدًا فِي جَهَنَّمَ لَيُنَادِي أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ قَالَ فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِجِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام اذْهَبْ فَأْتِنِي بِعَبْدِي هَذَا فَيَنْطَلِقُ جِبْرِيلُ فَيَجِدُ أَهْلَ النَّارِ مُكِبِّينَ يَبْكُونَ فَيَرْجِعُ إِلَى رَبِّهِ فَيُخْبِرُهُ فَيَقُولُ ائْتِنِي بِهِ فَإِنَّهُ فِي مَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَيَجِيءُ بِهِ فَيُوقِفُهُ عَلَى رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ يَا عَبْدِي كَيْفَ وَجَدْتَ مَكَانَكَ وَمَقِيلَكَ فَيَقُولُ أَيْ رَبِّ شَرَّ مَكَانٍ وَشَرَّ مَقِيلٍ فَيَقُولُ رُدُّوا عَبْدِي فَيَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا كُنْتُ أَرْجُو إِذْ أَخْرَجْتَنِي مِنْهَا أَنْ تَرُدَّنِي فِيهَا فَيَقُولُ دَعُوا عَبْدِي

English Translation
Hasan ibn Musa narrated to us, Sallam — meaning Ibn Miskin — narrated to us, from Abu Zilal, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Indeed, a servant in Hellfire will cry out for a thousand years: O Most Compassionate, O Most Gracious!' Allah عز وجل will say to Jibril, 'Go and bring My servant.' Jibril will bring him and stand him before Allah. Allah will say, 'How did you find your abode?' He will say, 'The worst of abodes.' Allah will say, 'Return him.' As he is being taken back, he will say, 'I had hoped You would not return me.' So Allah will save him from it.
